What’s the point on spending £30/40m on a player that the next manager may not like?
We’re only in two competitions so the current three should be able to manage the load?
Because a lack of goals would be what relegates us.
Also we need a long term replacement for Wood.
Look at the stats, we have to improve goal output.
I thought the stats showed that we were broadly scoring the same as those higher than us (with the figures having been deflated during the period that Ange was in charge)?

This strikes me to only lean into an incoherent strategy with a scattergun approach though.
Something you have been critical of.
Why sign a striker for £30/35/40m who the manager in the Summer might not fancy?
It will, long term, hamstring our financial capabilities, and accelerate the sale of the likes of Anderson, Murillo, MGW, etc? At which point you then have to trade down if you can’t trade smart.

Please read my comment again Username, I only stated fact that goals scored normally results in wins for the team, so the more firepower at the club is a no brainer. Never mentioned spending £30/40 million on any random player as you seem to indicated unless it is part of planning by the club regardless of the manager/coach, hence saying many a time that the club needs an ethos and style that they follow on with regardless of current status.

So we’re 1 goal a game and 1.29 if you remove the ange games (in the league)
Wolves = 0.66 Burnley = 1.09 West Ham = 1.17 Leeds = 1.34 Palace = 1.04 Spurs = 1.43
So we’re kinda where we should be, be interesting to see goals conceded
We concede 1.48 goals a game and 1.04 if you remove the ange games (in the league)
Wolves = 1.87 Burnley = 1.91 West Ham = 1.96 Leeds = 1.65 Palace = 1.22 Spurs = 1.35
I’d like to think we find someone to make our attack better or at least lucca thrives with how we play in the prem where as Jesus is more suited to how we play in Europe but our defense being like it is and better will also help our progress (obviously)

Looking forward to seeing what Lucca can do.
Have heard mixed reports about him.

We're 5th in the league for percentage of goals from open play, which is pretty good.

Those Ange games were Arsenal away, Burnley away, Sunderland home, Newcastle away, Chelsea home. Is it fair to remove the Ange games when they contain Arsenal, Newcastle and Chelsea?

So I was broadly correct then.

I was responding to your posts as a whole, in addition to the one quoted.
More strikers doesn’t mean more goals and, as we’ve seen with some like Kalimendo we could bring someone in who might have the ability to score goals but doesn’t fit our style.
If we are to find an “ethos and style” then signing whoever might be available isn’t the right approach.

That is exactley my point Username, once we have a consistant club ethos/style we want to play, subsequent managers/coaches/players should be sort to match. We can then always plan in advance and further into the future and not scramble around at the last moment in transffer windows and I acknowledge this is not a perfect world but worth a try? Also is this not the reason EM brought Edu into his football portfolio?

So once ange left ‘they could breath’
They played some good stuff vs Liverpool and spurs
Were they all truely buggered by dyche running them too hard in training…
So what now? We keep getting told this is a squad of very good technical footballers that have been forced to play one dimensional football and actively disliking it. Is there a way no matter who the manager maybe that they remember some of the skill they have?
