Current Players Thread
Id have Yates every day over Sangare. We have a history of throwing everyone under a bus, especially our own. Worrall, Johnson and Yates in recent times. All got undeserved pelters.

Agreed.

I’d love to see the pass completion stats for the other midfielders from last night and how Yates actually faired against them.

I thought he was excellent first half or so last season and our results were great. After he lost his place in the starting 11 the results also fell off, but I also thought when he joined the action he wasn’t as good as he’d been earlier in the season. Probably unsurprising that you lose some rhythm. So last night he plays after not featuring much and he’s getting scapegoated. He obviously doesn’t have the natural ability of the likes of Luiz and maybe needs regular game time to be at the level we need. Hopefully we can also give him the chance to play himself in. I think the exit of the league cup will cost him minutes though.

I think with Yates, if he's not getting regular game time then it seems to affect him in terms of when he comes back in more than a lot of players. Seen it before.

Yates has qualities. But an attacking number 8 he is not. His distribution into the final third was very poor apart from a sublime turn and pass for the offside goal. He switched off for their equaliser too but so did three other players. He was poor in parts and for me hasn’t done himself any favours to argue his point in playingBUT he will still have a huge part to play this year. Can see him scoring a fairy tale goal at some point- it’s written….

He looked tired to me and because he’s an academy graduate he doesn’t seem to get the same luxuries as others have, it was a wet and heavy pitch.

Looks he was just left on slightly too long

It didn't feel like 88%. I think his first touch was a pass that just went out, but as someone pointed out earlier the conditions might not have helped

So Yates had a better passing accuracy than McAtee but the latter gets a free pass because…?

The eye test. Yates was reminiscent of the game v sheff Wednesday when he couldn’t find a simple forward pass in the failed playoff attempt under sabri

Not dissing Yates or anyone else but its far easier as a defensive mid or centre back to pass side ways to your mate under no pressure than it is for a forward to complete a pass in the final 3rd. Those percentages will generally look higher.

He played quite advanced with Douglas Luiz around, he got into more attacking positions than any of the other midfielders and had more attempts at goal.
