Nottingham Forest Academy And Under 21's
I’m not going to rise to you repeatedly trying to bate me into getting angry just because I called you out on an opinion. This is a perfectly reasonable debate on how to best develop academy players.

The reason someone else might have rose tinted glasses is that they have an emotional attachment/bias as they have seen the player come through their career. They will have seen most games they’ve played and most fans myself included would like to see the academy players succeed above others hence a natural bias.

The point I originally made which you decided to belittle was that the loan was a good move unlike has been said a lot recently and a preferable choice than how Yates was being used (before today!)

I decided to not respond to this post last night as I didn’t think I would best represent myself so I took myself away which was a shame given we’d just won. However I’m unwilling to just lie down, I refuse to be belittled and bullied by someone just because they think they know more because they have some extra connection to the club. This does not invalidate my argument. You can’t just cherry pick sentences and take them out of context because you disagree with what I’m saying. Maybe I hit a nerve I don’t know.

Then to make it worse you choose to belittle me further my essentially attempting to erase my comments by arrogantly reposting your own massive post from a few days ago. It took all my energy to not just repost our entire debate again however I decided that would be childish.

This is a forum it’s for debate and reasoned and rational discussion. Which if you read back you’ll see I was offering this. You however ignored what I was saying repeatedly and just heard what you wanted to hear. This isn’t the first time you’ve done this either. Look fine if that’s how you want it to be so be it and if you choose to block me because you don’t like being called out that’s your call. I will continue to call you out if you are talking rubbish in the same way I would expect someone to do to me.

My discussion about how best we should develop academy players is 100% related to this thread. My discussion point was I thought it was a good move for Worrall as I don’t think he was expected to play much at the start and I think he’ll develop. Perhaps it would’ve also benefitted Yates too. Not sure why you decided I hate Worrall, he’s a good young defender I just felt Fox Dawson and figs were ahead of him.

Can’t disagree with this...

Worrall has done very well for Rangers. (Perhaps he could have well for Forest but for 'other' reasons. But he'll be back in the Summer a better player and mentally rock hard after handling an 'old firm' derby.) He'll be back in contention for Forest 3 months-ish. Not long. There is debate whether he should have gone out. Silver lining? He's a better player. And Forest went out and got 3 rock solid CHs because of the defensive crisis. Unload Fox, pocket some money and get 3 specialist CHs...who have international experience. All 3 of which show promise, form, toughness and capability in their positions that Forest haven't had in the CH position for years now.

Yates. A revelation alongside the Mentoring 'Watto.' Watto allowed to sit in front of the back four breaking up play. Yates is 'legs' to his bow. Vocal. A leader. Sturdy unit and athletic with it...and passes with purpose...forwards. He's been with the 1st team all season. Martin gives him his chance. And after a nervy start, Yates blossoms. (I wonder if Keane had anything to do with it?) His league home debut was given much praise by Martin O' Neil who must be given credit for putting in a young lad in against a good Brendford side. I suspect we'll be seeing more from Master Yates in the near future. A player I was very excited about pre-season. He, along with Geddy, was the performing DCM duo of choice before the arrival of Colback.

Two prospects that reflect very well on Forest's Academy.

Appiah next?

SA.

I agree, but only really now in hindsight, Worrall has had huge experience and will return a better player and certainly an asset with enhanced value.

Great to see Yates get a game yesterday and be part of a win at the City Ground, but like you infer, his development and progress this year has probably been compromised

Having said that plenty of games now and seems he has a fair crack at featuring constantly in the squad

I wouldn't dare challenge NG on anything, having said that, upto the Jan transfer window it seemed to me, there was no strategy or real concern for those emerging from the academy and taking them to the next level, things seem a lot better now

Some people behind the scenes seem to of really gotten a grip in Jan seems a huge amount of work was done finding clubs and deciding next steps for everyone, though I don't know who, M o N's involvement in most of that transfer window would of been relatively minimal in relation to the work done

All I can see are positives now, where as before we just seemed chaotic. Just feels like there is a structure and quite detailed planning going on.

Would of liked to of maybe seen Appiah in the squad yesterday, if he is being wrapped in cotton wool that could be a beautiful thing

Once again taking a statement out of context. I am repeating myself but why not, the phrase I used was specifically referring to our fans not either the rangers or Burnley managers. I understand you are suggesting that because these managers rate him that proves that he’s good. Their views don’t represent the views of the Forest fans. However I never claimed he wasn’t, just that he was 4th choice behind three others that I’m sure would’ve been the same for Dyche or Gerrard if given those options. However that in itself is pure speculation.

The point made was that because he is an academy player he is given a more generous review than say a free transfer foreign player because fans want him to succeed more, me included. Therefore with this in mind the fact he’s been unavailable and we’ve struggled in that position has only further increased his standing. Meaning that potentially some fans are overrating his true currentl level and that he is better off on loan at rangers. Does this make sense?

I vehemently disagree that this has damaged the thread, I think it’s an interesting debate on academy players and has been contributed to by multiple posters. I would imagine people have enjoyed the debate, I apologise if this is not the case. Also I’m sure you’re aware I would respond to this, I apologise if you didn’t like my accusations but I didn’t like the initial aggressive tone you took and I didn’t like that you reposted your big post and effectively tried to erase my comments.

I know I don’t post often but I read the forum on a daily basis because it’s a great source of info and insightful debate. Please don’t turn this into vital forest, the endless pages of bickering, points scoring and talking at cross purposes has destroyed that site. COYR is a revelation precisely because that nonsense doesn’t happen here.

I would just like to apologise to everyone if they felt the debate we were having wasn’t relevant to the thread or was deemed to be bickering. This was never the intention and I’d like to think I’d read back it would be seen that I was trying throughout to return to the discussion.

NG I’m sorry you took offence, that comment really honestly wasn’t directed at you but rather the fans in general. I now understand why you reacted so aggressively but it was comment on things I’ve seen across multiple platforms and media. I’m sorry that you felt targeted, this was never my intention and I apologise for this misunderstanding.

I took it to another thread to continue the debate as I felt it was an interesting one. I will delete that post if people would prefer. I’m sorry you disagree. I take offence to comments of trolling as this was never the case. However I will also defend myself when necessary. I’m happy to discuss this away from the thread privately if you still feel offended.

New recruits for the academy? Are these quality additions. We’ve done well with some releases from others. I’ve also heard we may be after a young midfielder from port vale...
