Maybe recent good results are down to him but doesn’t that prove the point that we have been desperately unlucky with injuries and had we had more luck we would already be safe. Also that poor results aren’t solely because of the manager as was the narrative on here a few weeks back.
That was never solely the case SM if we are honest.
But some of the managers team selections, subs and tactics at the time were being questioned by some and rightly so in my opinion.
I have questioned his tactics myself on the Match thread.
Just felt some people wanted change for change’s sake in a difficult situation for any manager.

Personally I don't think that was really ever the case SM but I see where you are coming from.
If any coach and I don't care who it is goes on a run of 3 points from a possible 33 then questions will be asked.
I think it was fair game at the time.

Off the back of the Awoniyi praise and to throw another potential hand grenade in the thread... the Bundesliga signings (Taiwo, Niakhate and Mangala) have really shown their worth over the last few games. I said it at the time and it's still true now, Syrianos shouldn't have been removed; it was always gonna take time for Bundesliga lads to adjust to the Prem and injuries didn't help that either, but they're now looking like they'll be serious contributors if we do stay up.

There's so many examples of players coming from outside of the UK and taking time to adapt. It's the norm rather than the exception. You always need to judge players in year 2 in the UK.
That's actually why the signings of Boly, Aurier and Kouyate have been astute as we knew what to expect. Shame we didn't get that production for Jlingz.
So much hope for next year though in general if we can get over the line.

What’s nice to see from the recent interviews with Taiwo is that he always believed in himself (not in a cocky way) and put in the hard work, especially whilst coming back from injury and it’s paying off now.

It may have been the debacle with Richards that ultimately cost him his job.
But I agree about Taiwo, Niakhate and Mangala.

How would Syrianos know about him having a fractured leg whilst scouting his analytics?

Dunno but Syrianos was head of recruitment and he recruited Richards which has turned into a circus. I am sure it didn't do him any favours.

I think i mentioned at the time it would be interesting to see at the end of the season whether the sacking was justified as i anticipated these signings would kick on.
To be honest our Summer business wasnt that bad given the volume required, the biggest shock being O'Brien not kicking on for me, JLINGZ was always a punt to nothing.
Agree though the premier league experience of Aurier, Kouyate and Boly has really shone through.

Think there was a degree of naivety in the early recruitment that a few promising prospects combined with a core of last year’s youngsters would cut it in the PL. That we needed some PL knowhow became clear early on, if there was a disagreement about that I would guess it cost some people their jobs.
As I have said before, no single system has shown to be any more effective so far.

Not to reap over old ground, but he didn’t do the medical or negotiate the contract, it shouldn’t be on him at all in that regard.

Surely being head of recruitment though you oversee the whole department that is why you are the head.
Anyway none of it really matters now because he's gone.
