I've been writing this post in my head for a few days now so forgive me spouting on but how's everyone finding their premier league experience? My take so far is the following:
1) A lot of it is a load of over-hyped nonsense. Talksport's content on Jessie Lingard is an example. Were any of these outlets analysing his actual performance on the pitch against West Ham on Saturday? No they weren't, they're not interested in that, just the fluff around him.
2) It's not a very welcoming place. We were briefly greeted with open arms when we first got up. Everyone was glad to see us back it seemed, great. That was until we started to show our intent in the transfer market and demonstrate that we were serious and not just there for a year's ride. Then we went from cuddly furry little Nottingham Forest to money wasting, reckless Forest who were 'doing a Fulham' and signing our own death warrant.
3), linked to 2) The premier league narrative. I'm so bored of the narrative that the premier league is such an unsurmountable challenge that any team promoted into it is only there for a year, that's despite of there being numerous actual examples of teams getting into the prem and staying there (Brighton, Palace, Villa, Leeds, Brentford, Wolves, Burnley up to last season).
4) Sky Sports are utterly obsessed with Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs, and Man City. You may say it's an obvious statement but personally having never really taken any interest in their premier league coverage for years up until this season it's brought into focus for me that the coverage of those big clubs massively outweighs the rest. Leicester fans must have been pulling their hair out when they won the league.
5) Linked to 4), The pundits who cover the prem have absolutely no idea what's going on out of it, or even at clubs who don't challenge the top ones. The times I've heard these pundits express an opinion on us based solely on the games we played against Arsenal, Leicester and Liverpool in the cup last year. Its as if they only watched one of our games because we were playing one of 'their' big clubs. If you earn your living as a pundit shoudn't you be watching a few games to broaden your horizons? We came up as the 'playy off winner' and as such are automatically labelled as fodder despite the actual fact being that we were the best team in the championship for the last 2/3rds of the season.
6) Signing players. We've had year upon year of frustration trying to sign decent players and unsuccessfully persuading them to come to us. Suddenly we're in the prem, haven't/have hardly kicked a ball and some of Europe's top players will come to us at the drop of a hat, even though in their eyes there must be a good chance we might be relegated straight back down again. Its like the prem is the be all and end all of football. I'll be glad when the window closes and we can concentrate on the actual football.
And lastly to finish on a positive, 7) How nice is it to see so many Forest shirts being worn by everyone on none match days? 5 years ago you'd be more likely to see someone in a Man Utd shirt than you would a Forest shirt. Now everyone's got one on. I bumped into a bloke wearing one walking his dog the other day and started to talk to him about Forest. He conceded he wasn't a massive fan but was just enjoying the ride. It was nice.

On point 4 and 5 I'll give credit where it's due to Sky Sports. The coverage of us has been mostly positive and they haven't fallen into the lazy 'doing a Fulham' routine that a lot of other outlets have. If anyone has a chance to watch the piece that Mark McAdam did this morning I'd recommend it.

Im only surprised that points 1-6 are a surprise to you Pap!
As for your last point its really important, not for you walking the dog but the wider awareness that goes with PL status particularly as far as kids are concerned. We now have a chance of kids growing up supporting Forest rather than refusing to because their Liverpool supporting mates tell them we are shit.
Finally much as the PL is an overhyped circus you cant tell me the sense of occasion on Sunday wasn’t absolutely amazing. Weve waited 23 years Im going to enjoy it for all its faults.

To be honest I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would. Maybe I became a little institutionalised in the Championship as i did think I'd miss it a lot. I thought I'd hate going to games knowing we were dead certs to get beat. I hadn't factored in the blind faith that comes with supporting a football team. I might be thinking differently if Marinakis wasn't having such a go at it maybe.

I agree with this about Sky. Ultimately, it's about business and I think they see an opportunity from having us in the Prem as we do have a fantastic and large following. I think the other outlets will cotton eventually but they are less commercially driven plus Sky will have seen our following more acutely due to them being the place to catch Championship games.
FWIW, I'm enjoying it all!

Also the incredible number of African-based Twitter accounts who've never, ever tweeted about Forest before but are now apparently massive fans. Obviously the signings of Awoniyi and Dennis are going to have boosted that too.

I am bored of Carragher, Neville & co already.
I was shocked at how bad talkShite was.
Being a TV pundit is easy, you've got to talk meaningless crap about the tiniest thing and over analyse everything to death.
Suddenly there are people at work who know who Nott'm forest are.
Why are women commentating on men's football games? I thought that's what the women's game was for?
Championship players tackle harder and stay on their feet more, they are real men.
I have begun watching other Premier League games, never used to.

Just looking at the fixtures and we've not got many Saturdays coming up.
Sunday, midweek, Saturday, Monday, Friday, Monday, Monday.
Monday nights is definitely the slot for the popular non top 6 team so a compliment I guess.

Lol, yes I realise that. It's because European matches haven't started yet though.
