Mistakes are creeping back in as players are looking shot out on the pitch after 60 mins as the same ones are play 90 mins with no subs 2 and 3 times a week and when subs are brought on they don’t have the partnerships or match time to get into the groove to make an impact. This is a season like no other so we have to treat it like that and sometimes for the sake of the team you can’t play your strongest team.

Rooney made 6 changes to their side against Cardiff on Tuesday to rest his players. That went well....

No mid week game for us next week when lots of other teams have one. A little rest for the players there then.

We are not going up and we are not going down. I would also like to see us mix up the team a bit with one eye on next season. If McKenna is not ready then I wouldn't be against bringing Soh in and giving him a run in the team next to Worrall. We know what Figs brings. Also give Mighten more game time to try and getting him better prepared for next season.

I just want to see wins and the club building some kind of momentum for next season. I think CH has the right strategy. Keep the back 4 as-is and bring other players in and out as necessary. Garner and Krov have to start every game otherwise we look like a the 2020 side.

Don’t disagree with the sentiment Sniff - I’ve believed that we’re staying up for some considerable time.

But - let’s make certain first.

To bring Soh in now - and hence potentially give Joe 3 different centre back partners inside the next couple of weeks - wouldn’t help our defensive stability.

With regard to Mighten - let’s give him a run in the side at the back end of the season ( say the last 6 or 7 games ) to show what he’s capable of & prepare for next season.

yes, takes a very exceptional manager, training drills and preparation to deploy 16 players over the 95 minutes

and similar to the above and our substitutions and changes against Luton they can be a catalyst towards catastrophy

my suggestion is play players who need to rebed into the side, mainly blockers and defensive players, players like Sow, Yates, Colback, Arter were automatic selections at various stages, have Mighten, Freeman and Sammy Ammy even to just try and work to a basic ball down the sides or over the top strategy

from HT on bring on Krov, Cafu, Knocky, Lolley and Garner or whoever we know what these guys can do and would thrive fresh and later in the game, also 3 are loans

So you get existing ex auto picks performing to their strengths, and an alamo philosophy would suit many of those and we have enough to get something out of the game and get some points

the next fixtures are all hard fixtures so going for the brick walls makes sense as well, ok it was tried, trusted and eventually failed but i think collectively we have a stronger squad now and need to explore every possible way towards getting points, developing the squad and preparing for next season

Also depends on how likely we are to retain loans.

Once we start preparing for next season (a bit early at moment for me) then pointless playing any players we don't own unless we believe they will be coming back.
Potentially then a team without Christie, Garner, Filip and knockeart (plus Freeman- no loss).

A different slant could be put certain players in shop window too. Redknapp used to do this alot, mostly off the bench and talk them up.

Problem is also in the modern game you only seem to be as good as your last game, so fans patience would soon go if experimental line ups resulted in defeats.

Strongest available team it is then....

the 'only as good as your last game' thing seems to rapidly mutate to the last half hour and the ball and chain of the result

the first hour against Luton was first class in most, if not all departments, just the slight lack of class and finishing which can happen to the best

I'd like to see the likes of Yates or Sow alongside Garner. I'd like to see Sow (I think he's our strongest CM) and Grabban restored to the starting line up. But they're injured or on their way back from injury. Pity.

But it may still be too soon for either by the sounds of the press conference with Hughton. But the good news is that they will be available at some point. With the likes of McKenna, Sow, Grabban to come back. Those are strong players that our 1st team needs.

Two of my favourite Forest players and former manager. Birtles and Paul Hart. *Picking the bones out of the defeat to Luton.

Worth a listen.

Key stat. 'Only four teams have scored less than Forest and they're in the bottom four.' On the defensive side. Only four teams are better than Forest. Brentford are 2nd, conceded more than Forest but scored 61 goals.' Birtles.

Who then reels off the stats of the top 7.

It's interesting analysis by Birtles.

Our top scorer is 4. The joint Top Scorer is OG? :O

We went with Grabban pretty much on his own last year with goals supplemented by Lolley. Both thrashed and overworked over the last two years...and surprise. They've dipped this year. Badly. Instead of getting quality strikers in to augment Grabban and Lolley and sort out the ACM sooner.

He even has a pop at Knocker (not him per se...) and the lack of quality service or decision making.

And it's not as if we're spreading goals throughout the team.

Luton, it seems, have a more flexible approach (and players who believe in this approach...) to change to get a result. Eg. Hart's well remembered 'diamond' formation which seemed to do well for Luton 2nd half.

I don't think changing formation helped Forest at all. (Krov' going off showed Forest are night and day without him.). It's about putting out your best 11. And Forest can't quite do that at the moment. And the last couple of results reflect that.

Goals get you out of this division. And the top 7 have goals.

SA.

Just seen that the game tomorrow is a 12.30 kick off. For god's sake sky will you just leave us all alone please.

12.30 kick off bugger up both Saturday mornings and Saturday afternoons for me. It'd be more useful to kick off at 9.30am. At least we could then have all day to do other stuff.
