Preseason Friendlies Summer 2025
Very strange hasn't been one interview with Nuno all pre-season.

We will struggle this season.

If we try to change style we will struggle like when Cooper did the same before we played Burnley, Brentford and Luton and if we don't try and change style our lineup is worse atm than last season.

We will be fine.
Having more control will be needed given the number of games we will be facing. You can’t play how we did for 60 games a season.

I’m sure we will get the players we need and things will click.

Lack of goals in preseason is a slight concern but can’t help but feel these games have just been used as glorified training sessions and, with one mind on not getting any injuries etc ahead of the season opener given that bar the first 11, we don’t have much of a PL squad at present.  Hopefully we crack on with signings this week but irrespective, I suspect the level of our performance and intensity of our play will be a lot different next Sunday.

I can’t work out whether Nuno intends to play last nights starting line up with Jesus just behind Wood or if he is simply trying to give both pre season minutes.

If he intends to line up the same vs Brentford,
1. Not seen much evidence it works.
2. When both are knackered after 60 minutes, our forward options off the bench are Taiwo and Jota. Thats it. That’s assuming both CHO and Ndoye last 90 which I doubt. Stating the obvious neither are anywhere near the standard we need.

Perhaps its a red herring and trying to fool teams into thinking we're playing a new shape. We just need to stick to what we were did well with and thats the 4231 but with upgraded players.

I think I agree with the formation. Just waiting on the upgraded players.

It's also worth noting we had 3 or 4 players carrying injuries at the back end of last season.

We still need to strengthen both our starting 11 and bench though.

Well the fiorentina players tried

They didnt score though!!

Anyone still worried? Surely, this time next year we can all take a breath and if you choose to waste your time watching preseason games, everyone can take them for what they are and have always been before spouting ? about the season ahead.

Now the real stuff is here, it's time to really begin analysing Nuno and the boys.

Until next summer....

You beat me to it!

The gnashing of teeth over some meaningless kickabouts was a bit embarrassing.
