I don't think that this gets spoken about enough.
Perhaps it happened so fast that it hasn't sunk in yet?
Or perhaps we just take it for granted (hope not).
We have gone from bottom of the Championship and talking about League 1 to the play off final.
We won and got promoted. We stayed up and stabilised and now we are top six and flirting with Europe.
We have a squad full of international footballers worth hundereds of millions of pounds.
We have EM in charge who won't stop until we get into Europe, then he won't stop until we win the cup, then he won't stop until we win it again, no matter how long it takes he won't stop.
Now we have Edu, seriously? we have taken Edu off of Arsenal, what next I wonder.
There is also some sadness attached to this post and that is because of some posters who don't post on here anymore since we transformed ourselves from a bit of a laughing stock into a serious PL outfit. Why were you (I won't mention names) only here during the bad times? Why are you not here enjoying the good times with us?
Anyway like MR said in another post earlier today thank you EM, thank you Nuno, thank you Steve and thank you to all the players and staff.
You have made us all proud to be a member of the NFFC family again.
Upwards and onwards.

A lot of the recognition should go to Steve Cooper IMO, he did an amazing job in the circumstances.

He started the ball rolling and kicked it all off but others have taken us on to another level.
Steve, Nuno, EM and all the staff and players have played their part.
My point is that it doesn't get spoken about enough just how far we have come in the last 3 years.

I love Steve and am still gutted he's not our manager. However, there's a pretty common trend among promoted sides that, moved on from their promotion manager after a few years of graft to take the next step up. Different skillset to get out of the championship to actually being competitive in the prem (not just playing high energy defensive tactics)
Even the most dogged Steve Cooper fans would be hard pressed to claim we'd be in this position if he'd had the hand Nuno has had.
I think the clean break has helped, the baggage from the stress of those years doesn't exist for Nuno, which gives him a fresh outlook with the players.
That said, Steve did two incredible jobs, obviously in the promotion season but to somehow keep us up that first year, with all the noise was incredible. Who knows what went on but with all the signings, the media spotlight, the constantly being on the brink of the sack etc, to turn it around was an amazing achievement.

Should also thank ourselves, as the relentless support the fans gave in particular at home (it's expected away from home), in those first few seasons was critical. The amount of positive feedback we received from other fanbases was very satisfying and the continued positive results at home showed how much of an impact it had.

This is not a Steve Cooper V Nuno thread nor do I want it to be.
It's about the quality of players we now have at the club, it's about us currently sitting sixth in the PL, it's about EM relentlessly pushing us on and backing us to the hilt to get us into Europe, it's about getting us to Europe and not being content until we actually win the cup, it's about being able to attract people like Edu to the club etc etc.

All the points made above are valid and relevant. I am not sure will ever be able to achieve in the same time periods Cloughie did because football has changed. Accept evolution rather than revolution, live the dream and enjoy it whilst it happens.

I remember when Brighton got rid of Chris Hughton and Southampton with Nigel Adkins. Many people thought they were mad. Teams and people evolve and I thank the current owner for what they have done.

Yeah and from the outside looking in, both moves seemed both harsh and didn't make sense at the time.
I guess you don't fully appreciate what has been built up over time, all the baggage Cooper had built up and also just perhaps a different style of voice is required to go up the next step. Can't think of many managers that have taken a team up and then also taken them into Europe?
Bielsa got Leeds to top half is the only recent one I can think of.
