Referee Watch - Tricky - 17-08-2024

Seeing as we no longer have the services of a certain Mark Clattenberg (CONTENDERRRSSSS READYYYYYYY), I thought it might be a fun idea to gauge the thoughts of our fans on the performance of the Referee and VAR.

I thought the ref had a decent game overall. He handled Danilo's injury perfectly, blowing up immediately after the challenge as he knew something was wrong straight away. Did he hear Danilo's leg/ankle snap? I have to give him top marks for that.

He tried to let the game flow as much as he could, even if there was the odd questionable challenge he let ride, particularly on Yates, but lets be honest here, Yatsey is a shithouse at best for drawing freekicks. Has Mr Oliver become accustomed to Ryans antics?

He and VAR dealt with the disallowed offside goal very well and the delay in a re-start was minimal.

I would give him a solid 8/10 for his performance today

RE: Referee Watch -Michael Oliver V Bouremouth (H) - stefanduma - 17-08-2024

A good ref I like him, no histrionics and he tries to keep the game flowing.

He is the best ref in the country by a distance, also one of the few we haven’t fallen out with.

Thought he was pretty decent tbh 8/10

8/10 just for being so alert to the Danilo injury
Thought he gave some soft free kicks to Bournemouth and nothing to us but other than that he was fine.

Tricky hope you don't mind but I changed the thread title so the thread can be continuous without starting a new one every week.

By the way he is a good ref is Oliver.

He is probably my favourite.

That's fine Sniff. That makes sense mate

Sam Barrott will referee Southampton - Nottingham Forest.

Ah, that'll be Sam 'whoops I just disallowed a perfectly good goal by being impatient with my whistle' Barrott.

What could possibly go wrong?

RE: Referee Watch - Tricky - 25-08-2024

I thought Sam Barrott had a decent match at the Southampton match. He seemed to let a few things go, that other, more niggly officials would've blown for. This let the game flow without constant stop/starting. The bookings were about right also. 8/10 for me

Yes solid referee. BBD should've been given a yellow but that's about it

RE: Referee Watch - Username - 25-08-2024

A bit inconsistent at time, MGW got fouled a couple of times that weren’t given then gave identical decisions in favour of Southampton.
