Stadium Poll - wassy04 - 14-05-2024 Seems like a good time for a poll, should we stay or should we go? In reality it sounds like the decision is made to leave in some form and I think the club has it's work cut out to sell the dream to everyone. So realistically the upgraded City Ground option doesn't really exist. Maybe it should've been Sports Village or just stay at City Ground without upgrades? RE: Stadium Poll - Barcelonared - 14-05-2024 Need to move on with the times. We are in the biggest league in the world, we need to expand accordingly if we want to be part of this elite group. As much as I love the City Ground, I practically grew up there in the early sixties with my Father and Grandfather, it’s now not fit for purpose either capacity, transport or hospitality revenues. Will be sad when we move but I’m sure we will benefit hugely. RE: Stadium Poll - Joe Baker Legend - 14-05-2024 Its a bit like losing the old Trent End, we get used to it. RE: Stadium Poll - Username - 14-05-2024 Anyone who was in the ground on Saturday surely only votes one way, the opposition to moving was extremely loud and vocal at times. Isn't noise and atmosphere created by fans though, and not buildings? I'm told by a Leicester fan that their atmosphere, in their bowl, was incredible when they won the prem. RE: Stadium Poll - Paplane - 14-05-2024 It seems to me that the club is at a bit of a crossroads in it's history. I've grown up watching the club at the CG from the early eighties so have seen crowds of 16k against Oxford, up to 35k v Celtic. But never in that timespan would I have said there was a need for a 40 or 50k stadium. But there is a need now I feel. Top level football has changed fundamentally in a way that's not previously been seen in the history of the game. The established prem clubs have embraced the change and moved on. We're new to these issues due to our late arrival at the party. My heart is saying we must stay, but my head is saying we have to embrace change and move on for the better. We're not the only club who have moved on from a place rich in history for them. I've gone 'on the fence'. RE: Stadium Poll - Mcforest - 14-05-2024 I love the city ground and I'm so thankful i got to take my son there before he past away. It will always be extra special to me as i got to create those precious moments and memories. Things like that will never be lost to me even if we move. I want my team to be able to compete and be able to enjoy the highs with my other children like i did with Aaron. Aaron would also want us to get stronger and move forward. So if a move is needed then i support it. We have a history, a strong history but we should not let that history weight us down. We need to create a new and exciting future so our child can have a history of their own to sing about, a chance to see us win something, might not be new to us but new to them. I don't want my kids to miss out of the excitement we had in the playoff final for another 23 years. A stadium is just a stadium at the end of the day, but the club is a family, friends and more. The club and the longevity of the club is more important than keep trying to squeeze what we can out of the city ground, as soon we will be hitting a point where the girl can't give anymore so we have to move anyway. By not taking the able space now who knows where we would need to go to find space by the time that comes. We only want to stay for our own selfishness and desires. Maybe it is time to push ourselves and move for a position that allows us to gain strength further down the road. I would also say move now because our fan base is is currently the best it's been for a while. We are loud and give that bit extra to the players and i'm sure even with the sadness of moving this group of fans will make sure any new stadium is just as formidable. The only thing i ask is that the memorial bricks are taken with us and used somehow in the new build. Lets bring those who are remembered with us. Did you hear the 15000 genuine Forest supporters who couldn’t get a ticket voicing their opposition. It is alright for us season ticket holders but to compete we need bigger crowds and if that means moving I’m in favour. RE: Stadium Poll - ToryTom - 14-05-2024 I believe the move to a sports village at Toton would potentially be a massive progression for the football club. It would significantly increase income from a variety of sources and allow us to better compete with the best teams in the country. Whilst we are in the premier league I believe we would fill the stadium. I would like to know how it would be financed. I bet it wouldn’t cost much less than £1 billion. Everton ground is less ambitious than a sports village and has cost £500 million so far and costs have increased significantly. Is it still just an ambition and not really achievable. If it is realistic i am for it. RE: Stadium Poll - oh no - 14-05-2024 I'd love to stay at the City Ground & it's 100% my first choice, but if we got a modern multiple stand stadium (no bowl) at a location thats near the Trent or city center than I doubt it'd take more than 10 games to get used to the New City Ground. Wouldn't be such a fan of a Riverside/Pride Park/King Power/AMEX copy paste stadium on the Erewash in Toton. A bigger version of Luton's new ground plan or the Molineux redevelopment would be nice but i'll always miss that walk across Trent bridge RE: Stadium Poll - nffc93 - 14-05-2024 (14-05-2024, 12:39 PM)dach Wrote:(14-05-2024, 11:23 AM)Username Wrote: Anyone who was in the ground on Saturday surely only votes one way, the opposition to moving was extremely loud and vocal at times. It wasn't that vocal either. Certainly not the whole stadium RE: Stadium Poll - Tricky - 14-05-2024 For me, the club does really need a new home from a business perspective. One that will allow more fans through the turnstyles. One that will be able to generate additional revenue when there isnt a match taking place. The City Ground only earns money on about 40 days per year maximum. That is 325 days where the old bird is costing money, not generating it. That is the business sense in moving. However, I would want the new stadium to be within the city boundaries, preferably next to the Trent ideally. We are NOTTINGHAM Forest, not Notts Forest. I know our home is currently outside of the city boundary, but that was due to political boundaries changing. We set up home within the city (town actually) when we moved into our home. Moving to Toton or Radcliffe upon Soar is going to alienate many fans, especially those of us who live outside of the County, especially those in the East and North. If we move outside of the boundary, are the FA going to insist we change our name as we are no longer in Nottingham, like they did with Wimbledon/MK Dons? Would we look at changing our club badge? This is one of the most iconic badges/logo's in the world of sport. What would be the point of emphasising the River Trent on our badge if we are nowhere near a river? Maybe we could connect it to the Beeston Canal or the River Leen. We would need to adopt a new anthem also. "Toton sidings! oh mist rolling in from the M52, my desire!" doesnt really have the same ring or meaning to it somehow. It is often said we would not want to move to a souless bowl. Sadly, that is exactly what we will be moving into. I cannot see how any developer is going to put up a brand new, economical stadium without it being a bowl. A 4 sided ground would still need to fill in the corners to maximise seating, which then makes it a bowl. If the club do decide to stay at the WFCG and fill in the corners, it will become a bowl, albeit one with character and atmosphere. Before the club seriously start to consider moving, it needs to get its own shit in order. WE cannot keep continuing the way we have been doing, bringing in players on a whim, different parties bringing new players in, the manager/coach not having a say who is coming in etc, etc. WE need a financial officer that is prepared to stand up and say we cannot have player X or y or Z because we will be overspending. We need to become a serious midtable, stable side at the very least. Not one that is constantly in a relegation battle. What would be the point in having a 40-50,000 seater stadium if we find ourselves wallowing at the wrong end of the Championship, attracting crowds of 20-25,000? I dont want us to leave the City Ground, but I can see why we may have to. But if we do decide to move, it cannot be on a whim, the location has to be just right and our house both on and off the pitch has to be perfectly aligned. I remain on the fence with this one. |
