RE: Injuries And Suspensions - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 15-01-2023 Don't want us to get ahead of ourselves because we don't know Hendo's exact injury yet but as a general rule... Grade one thigh strains should be rested from sporting activity for about 3 weeks, and grade two thigh strains for about 4 to 6 weeks. In the case of a complete rupture the thigh muscle will have to be repaired surgically and the rehabilitation afterwards will take about 3 months. RE: Injuries And Suspensions - zicorice - 15-01-2023 If Hendo is out for while, then thank goodness We signed a really good keeper with loads of Premier League experience. I have full confidence in him should he be required to have a run of games. What a good bit of business it could prove to be. RE: Injuries And Suspensions - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 15-01-2023 Agree Zico I have no problem with Hennessey he is proven in the PL. RE: Injuries And Suspensions - Salvatore Matrecano - 15-01-2023 We would still want another keeper even if Hennessey No.1 Reckon recalling Horvarth is a no brainer if we can do so. RE: Injuries And Suspensions - DR Forest - 15-01-2023 Horvath may have been playing out if his skin this season - I don’t know- but people forget just how awful he is with the ball at his feet. That doesn’t suit our style at all. Hennessy is the better keeper, I can’t see any debate. In fact, he’s better than hendo with the ball at his feet, and at coming for crosses. Whilst he doesn’t have that bit of magic like hendo, he’s better than horvath, who left because he didn’t want to warm the bench and I doubt he would return to do so. However, if Henderson has a long term injury then avoiding relegation is far too important for us not to get a new keeper in. I don’t think we’d rely on either and I can give you 150 million reasons why. RE: Injuries And Suspensions - Salvatore Matrecano - 15-01-2023 Depends on how bad Hendo’s injury is. 1-2 months we probably ride it out. If its for the season yes then we need someone better. Horvarth did seem to be improving but I agree he scared the bejesus out of me with the ball at his feet and he would get less time in the PL. Hennessey is a good commanding keeper but he seems slow to dive particularly to a low shot. Both would cost us points in my opinion. RE: Injuries And Suspensions - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 15-01-2023 I think best case scenario is that Hendo's injury is not serious (obviously) and he plays with heavy strapping with Wozza taking goal kicks but I realise that is very unlikely. RE: Injuries And Suspensions - DR Forest - 15-01-2023 (15-01-2023, 10:48 AM)Salvatore Matrecano Wrote: Depends on how bad Hendo’s injury is. Good summary- which is why I reckon there will be some video meetings going on today. They won’t tell us but will already have enough of an idea as to the extent of the injury to start making plans. My only hope is it’s not too bad an injury (for a keeper who therefore doesn’t have to run a lot). If it’s an injury occurring at full extension, there may be room to play on but not to take the kicks where it would have most effect, as sniff said. If not, it’s a new keeper for me. How’s Brice getting on? RE: Injuries And Suspensions - Paplane - 15-01-2023 I cant remember who it was but we had a scenario a few seasons ago when we could only recall our player up until the middle of January. Its presumably like that to allow the loaning club to find a replacement before the end of the wi dow. We might have missed the deadline for Horvath. RE: Injuries And Suspensions - wassy04 - 15-01-2023 If it is a bad injury there is an obvious benefit to signing a new keeper in that they could play in the League Cup games too. Let's not pretend Hennessey is a great keeper, he's been close to a career backup. Never played a full season as starter. Had a 4 year spell at Palace where he was playing semi regularly although never topped 30 appearances. Hasn't started regularly since 18/19 season. Why would we gamble the whole season on this bloke, who's looked ropey when he has played already. Keeper is such an underrated position of importance. If its anymore than a month I'd be looking for a new keeper. Tbh I'd be tempted for the League Cup games anyway, first semi final since 1992. RE: Injuries And Suspensions - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 15-01-2023 I thought Hennessey was superb against Spurs in the cup to be fair but perhaps it's just me. All great teams have great keepers, look at Shilton,Clemence, from the past and look at the modern keepers in top teams today, all excellent. you don't compete if you have a crap keeper. |
