Even earlier than usual this season. I presume the training camp will be in the UK this year. Do you know who the friendlies are against? In the comments section in the Athletic article, they asked Danny Taylor how confident he was, and he said he would be starting early July. He doesn’t comment like that unless it’s happening. No the CEO doesn’t interfere in team matters. But if you are going to adopt a philosophy like Brentford & Barnsley, the first thing you need to do is decide what the football philosophy is, without that the whole thing breaks down. The idea is that by changing a manager, the players that you have fit the philosophy of the club, and therefore you don’t have to keep ripping it up, which is exactly what we have been doing over the past 4 yrs. You hire managers that fit the philosophy of the club. Sounds to me like the CEO has a strong belief in his football philosophy, and therefore I think we will recruit on that basis. For example Barnsley don’t sign players over 25 yrs old, and they target players suited to a high energy pressing game. I would suggest that this summer you will see a lot of younger, high energy players. They must have given him a lot of assurances, other I doubt he would be joining. Barnsley are claiming to have not had an official approach. Paul Taylor STAFF 18h ago @Duncan L. Firmly expect this to be done and dusted early in July. Daniel Taylor STAFF 17h ago @Duncan L. I kind of get the theory behind what you are saying R73, but I have a nagging thought. I appreciate Dane Murphy has played in the American leagues and knows a bit about the game. A lot of CEO's have zero idea about the playing side of things apart from the theoretical aspect. Therefore, are you saying that a CEO can and will undermine a manager, who has masses of knowledge and expertise, in order to ensure his philosophies are adhered to? If so, then are we not at risk of staying exactly how we are now under Vrentzos, in terms of too much interference from the CEO? As Sniff has alluded to, Vrentzos got slaughtered for doing that exact thing (quite rightly too, IMO) RE: Potential New CEO? - Derby My Arse - 16-06-2021 We are guessing and putting 2 and 2 together and sometimes making 5 no doubt. Lets see how it unfolds when and if he comes. Barnsley is Barnsley and Forest is Forest. We are not even forced to go down the same route as Barnsley went down he may come here with a different vision and different ideas. I agree with DMA; people are reading too much into the appointment, assuming it does happen. We have an Academy who already have a philosophy on how the game should be played; they also embrace all of the latest technology and the use of data; the Academy, especially now we have Cat 1, will be a very important provider of players in the future That has been the work of Gary Brazil and his team. Brazil now sits at the head of a recruitment team, most of whom are new and have been sourced by him. Bringing in a CEO who is already aligned to this way of working seems like the natural thing to do; rather than interfere in what people are doing, he will be ensuring the structures in place are fit for purpose and are delivering as intended. That fact that we are a long way down the road to having the structures in place should make the Club an easy sell to him. The buck will stop with him, but he will have to let people get on with their jobs. As for Hughton; Hughton and Brazil appear very close and have a good working relationship; you would have to assume he is fully on board with all of this change; he could even be instrumental in driving parts of it. RE: Potential New CEO? - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 16-06-2021 This ^^ Agreed 100%. RE: Potential New CEO? - Fumanchew - 16-06-2021 For what is worth im gonna keep an eye on companies house to see when they file for a resignation of director, if it’s all going as they say it’s going it should be soon. If a recruitment policy is steeped in the club ethos then it shouldnt matter who the gaffer is. I hope Hughton does well and i'm sure he will, but if not i wont feel we'll be back at square one each time RE: Potential New CEO? - tugger2018 - 16-06-2021 Has it not occurred to anyone that maybe it was Hughton (with all his knowledge) and with Gary Brazil Who went to EM and told him this is what is required to move thus club forward in the Uk Hence the changes and personnel being mentioned ? He knows what he's doing. It's Vretnzos decision to move on and Vrentzos has also played a big roll in identifying his possible replacement. |
