Right now I think this is the most likely scenario, though I doubt he would announce it until the end of the season even if that is what he is thinking.

Well his interview after the game now, he's not looking to go anywhere.

Think about it from a business POV because you can bet Marinakis will, he has no sentimentality where Martin O'Neill is concerned.

He has to invest his money in a product (manager) he believes will bring the best returns on his investment i.e. Premier League promotion, entertaining football leading to higher gates etc. If Nottingham Forest were your business would you invest money in this product (O'Neill) and feel confident in gaining positive returns based on the preview you've seen? I wouldn't want to invest any more money in this.

He talks brilliantly. Almost forgave him for the shit storm he has been in charge of.

He sounded beaten to me? Just pretending not to be.

Marinakis had his money spent on a goalkeeper who can't kick. 1-0 Wednesday.

Hard for MoN to legislate for that.

He did play Byram. He did play Appiah. He is giving youth a chance. He's giving the players a chance.

He inherited 'a bit of a task.'

It will take longer than 6 months. The time we usually replace managers.

MoN's interview was fair comment.

Fair play to the fans that rock out the City Ground.

And.

Go away like they do.

Time to get ready for next season.

More change.

I think so.  He's telling us straight.  But we may not want to hear it.

But he did inherit a 'beaten' squad.  It hadn't been top 6 all season.

He did inherit 'the storm.'

Forest were well broken the minute he turned up.

Forest are being beaten off the field by 6 or 8 clubs that have been 'doing it better' for longer.  And until they can stick with something for longer than 6 months you might as well employ Tom Hanks.

A beaten squad?

It had lost 5(?) league games before his arrival, in reality we were difficult to beat before he arrived.

Martin has lost more than that in less games.

The irony is that Martin talked about a brittle defence in his pre-match interview when he used to scout Forest players as Ireland manager but if anything we’ve relocated that soft underbelly that Aitor had done well to eradicate with the likes of Fox, Figgy, Dawson and Hefele at his disposal.

O’Neil needs to be backed 100% from the board or he may as well go now. He was talking about changing the mentality. He was calling the players out. This will be decisive for some. One thing that annoyed me was the bit about staying in the game at 1-0. Have 5-7 minutes of being solid.

Back to the point - he needs his own squad and a pre season. Sadly I can see a whole host of casualties- Lolley Grabban and colback included.

This season was a massive opportunity for playoffs at least and we’ve blown it big style. I don’t blame O’Neill entirely but he has played his part. However he is not a mercenary- he will want this more than any other manager we could get.

The board need to back him or sack him.

I voted stick but the way I feel right now I wouldn’t be arsed if he went tomorrow.

It’s so so bad.
