Sangare was good, Elanga was really good with the ball and looks to have progressed mentally. Thought Neco had a stinker and should have been sent off. Onwards and upwards we need a few players now. Such a shame for Danilo but with Neco and Toff as fullbacks we aren’t going up the table.

RE: Nottingham Forest - Bournemouth - Salvatore Matrecano - 17-08-2024

Sorry to be thick but I am clearly missing something. Why was Sangare good?

He wasn’t bad, he also looks a bit better than last season. He puts himself about and pinches the ball quite well. But he is painfully slow, dithers on the ball and usually ends up giving it away. I can cope with him being slow if he controlled the midfield Rodri style but he doesn’t. We drop deeper and concede possession. I accept he isn’t helped by our forward players and fullbacks not keeping the ball but I honestly don’t see the commanding midfield general in there.

Not sure what the solution is, not writing him off totally and he definitely needs a run of games, maybe Anderson alongside him would help,

Danilo’s injury is a disaster. - Hope he recovers well.
2nd Half - Aina and Elanga get injuries - 10 mins into the 2nd half, have to bring on some more forced subs.
Yates, Boly, Awoniyi should’ve done better with their chances.
Sangare looked good defensively - bit slow on the ball though.
Just saw there goal back how lucky can you get really - blasted straight at Murillo and slotted home.

I think the transfer list just grew a bit after this game.
We were lucky to go in even at half time. The disallowed goal was a real let off for us. Swithched off from a set piece. Same old story. Second half was dominated by a weakened Bournmouth who didn’t have a centre forward. It’s the first game of the season so some allowance for that but if our performance does not improve it’s going to be another long hard nail biting season.

Bit pissed right now but the Awoniyi love in is embarrassing. He really was shit when he came on.

We need to keep Wood fit and on the pitch as much as possible.

Championing Yates to start but you slate Sangare for being slow on the ball? Yates takes a lot longer to get his passes off and get the ball under control - he had a decent game as well today. Sangare was good today, for about 75 minutes, seemed to tail off towards the end. He made the most tackles and won the most duels in the team I believe.
Felt like we lost it taking the wingers off and putting center mids on. Dominguez drifting inside (being told to come inside) left so much space on our right hand side.

I’m sorry but I agree with non of that. It was offside it wasn’t a let off, we were switched on enough to push out? 2nd half they just edged it.
First Half they did nothing. We played very well.

I think that is harsh. He was only on for twenty mins. He should have done better with that header near the end but he gives us the option of a ball behind which Wood doesn’t. It nearly paid off as well when their keeper was alert and had to charge off the line. Wood is certainly a better finisher but Awonyi offers more all around threat. He needs to get match fit. For me i did not think Nuno got it right today. We were at home against team without a striker and a number of other first team players missing. It’s a game we should have been winning. In my opinion Anderson should have come on when Danilo got injured. Yates played well and does what he does but we needed quicker forward passes with a bit of vision. Yatsie takes too many touches to get hold of the ball and his passing is safe not incisive. Nuno should have gone for the more attacking option

RE: Nottingham Forest - Bournemouth - Trailer Park Tom - 18-08-2024

Going into yesterday our fans had unrealistic expectations which was always going to lead to negativity (like post Burnley at home last year).

Sal explained it best.

We went into the game with the same side as last season and didn't win the game for the same reasons.

Bournemouth finished mid table last year and we haven't improved.

If you take the above into consideration it isn't a bad result.

On the other hand I thought we were very good in the first half and fitness/injury related changes contributed to our poor last 30 mins.

Big T isn't prem match ready yet and he played without wingers.

Southampton have two forwards who caused us problems with Sheffield United last season and their stadium will be rocking.

Tough season ahead but it should be slightly better.

RE: Nottingham Forest - Bournemouth - Mcforest - 18-08-2024

Lots to like and lots to improve on. Pretty much an opening game of the season. Still don't like having the fullbacks so attacking and bombing on both sides but that is the Nuno style.
All in all it's a point against a team that was better than us last season.

RE: Nottingham Forest - Bournemouth - Trailer Park Tom - 18-08-2024

I just hope we don't panic and bring in a new squad

We are only a couple short.

RE: Nottingham Forest - Bournemouth - Paplane - 18-08-2024

My overall feeling from yesterday is disapointment. First half we looked great, fit, full of energy, knocking the ball around with tempo. Looked like a new team full of ideas. But the same old problems arose 2nd half. Caved in, not taking chances, getting over run and then failing to hang on for the win.

Very disappointing. I thought we were going to push on this season but looks like it's going to be another relegation scrap.

RE: Nottingham Forest - Bournemouth - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 18-08-2024

Bournemouth are a good team with a good coach and we should give them some credit.

It has been a couple of bad days for us though with serious injuries to Locko ruling him out of his move to us and now Danilo who we are going to miss massively. It looked to me as though both our full backs were carrying injuries too.

A very bad couple of days at the office although I am not down about the result or our performance. Just that a few spanners have been thrown into the works now.
