One game at a time.....

Villa is all about how we handle their midfield and if we can get on top there we have a chance. If not......

Including today 3 of our next 4 games are at home against none of the PL big boys.

We need to take advantage of that and get some points on the board.

Agreed Sniff. My worry is the lack of atmosphere inside the ground. I fear the fans are waiting for the team to lift them and vice versa. I think Ody will start in goal and Yates will also be back in the 11. We need Taiwo (preferably) or Wood to start with the other on the bench. Would love to win but would take a point and a better performance

My worry is that we're trying to learn how to take the game to the opposition at home after a season of hanging on football. Imo we're not very good at it at present.

We were starting to learn in the last home game and did it pretty well. Unfortunately with 15 to go we stopped doing it, tried to revert to the hanging on game and spectacularly forgot how to play that way too.

It happens. None the less we have had just 4 home games this season. Learning how to play a different style as well as yet again integrating a new squad takes a bit of time.
Certainly longer than 4 games. We have actually only had 3 home games for a few of the current squad.
Possibly a bit of patience needed don’t you think?

Seems absolutely ridiculous

If we’d beaten Luton - we’d be saying what a brilliant start to the season we’d had

It's a fact though no matter how ridiculous it sounds and we didn't beat Luton and we haven't had a brilliant start to the season.

It is what it is.

Hopefully we win today and then it doesn't become an issue.

So many positives from yesterday. I loved the balance of the low block when required and attacking bursts.

This run until Bournemouth at home is massive. What we need now is Taiwo back on the score sheet and MGW making chances. If we can combine this with players returning and defensive stability we are in good shape.

Taiwo chances are essential though.

RE: Next Few Games - Salvatore Matrecano - 06-11-2023

It’s interesting that it was pretty much the same tactic vs Luton. Get a 2 goal lead then shut up shop apart from looking for the odd break.

One worked one didn’t, one gets praised the other gets slammed. Not having a go at anyone because I totally accept the reason Luton backfired was the substitutions robbed us of all cohesion, that mixed with a few individual errors cost us.

Other reason people will rightly say is that we shouldn’t have been parking the bus vs the bottom side. Just wonder if the same result had happened in reverse order if we would have been quite so frustrated. Flip side of course is that beating the 5th place side has left us with a fantastic buzz and the feeling again that we can beat anyone.

Next up:

Brighton (H)
Everton (H)
Fulham (A)
Wolves (A)

I personally think that 7 points should be a minimum realistic expectation from these next four. Although I admit that I am trying to raise the bar and get people believing a bit more.

That should be the aim, Brighton poor form, Everton 1pt above us, Fulham will be a crucial game, Depends which Wolves Turn up

I always admire the optimists. Id say 4/5 points. Not because I'm doom and gloom, because we notoriously struggle against teams that set up like Everton under Dyche and Wolves are also horrible.
