Great day out. It was a Forest takeover of Blackpool. It may be a dump, but perfect for an away trip.
Thought we were superb all over the pitch. Samba very measured and unlucky not to get a clean sheet (decision for Coops to make).
Spence his usual dynamic self.
Colback did well against a very good player again- Bowler is destined for bigger things for sure....
Worrall excellent except for his wobble with back header. Figs had a really good game despite his habit of dropping off deep (see Scousepool goal).. McKenna unbelievable, great new song he's got now too, along lines of "Scott McKenna.....there's no one better......he wins every header....." .can't remember tune.
Midfield was dominant, Yates and Garner purring like a pair of Rolls Royces in possession and aggressive when not.
Davis decent (wish he had a right foot he'd have scored a goal or two) and bullied them again. Jonno takes his chances like he took his penalties at the moment. So calm and confident. Worth £30 million of anyones money...which is more than that lot down the road can be bought for lock stock and barrel.
Subs all added something as game had gone a bit flat. Great to see Grabbs back, Lolley will fly imo if he just nicks a goal as he is looking really sharp. Surridge could potentially be the best signing we've made in a while and can stop us being fleeced by Villa for Davis.
Deliberately saved Zinc until last. After Scousepool he has been given excessive stick. Of course he should have hit target, but he was excellent today. A very good save stopped him scoring a second, but his work rate (as usual) was phenomenal and his link up play was a huge part of why our 1st half was so dominant. I thought he stood out live, albeit with beer goggles on, but, was confirmed when watching back on TV.
Alot of people throw around comments like "we need better" or "Wallace/an other would be an upgrade on Zinc". I actually disagree. ,(stay with me on this..)
Zinc was rattling around in Danish football until he got a chance at Watford in 2021 aged 26. Playing as a 10 in the Championship can be tough and at times he has been excellent his stats on goals/assists is decent. He does blow hot and cold, but he works his nuts off and NEVER hides.
I think his relative lack of experience at this level suggests his consistency can improve- which for me (having been his biggest critic on occasion) is the only thing he needs to improve on. We know he can score and open up teams and its not like he is a 1 game in 3 merchant. Also reminds me a touch of Bohinen in so much as I think he could be a player that thrives even more at a level above.
All in all a great day a touch of 1989? at Watford away with inflatables bouncing around and incredible away support. Very loud indeed. It had that feeling of a promotion party.....
Great write uo Zico. I thought we had quality all over the pitch. I cant remember the last time we went to a 'tough' away game and totally bossed it and imposed our game on the opposition. Its probably as far back as Dave Basset's promotion year.

Yes Paplane, for me Horvarth returns on Wednesday as he did not lose the shirt.......it was pure game management that it got rotated, so its back to Horvarth now until he loses it with a bad performance.

Completely agree on Zinc

Samba may be more comfortable with the ball at his feet, but I think Horvarth is the better goalkeeper.
Totally agree JW. Thought Samba looked a bit edgy and reserved too yesterday. That may be because he's rusty or just coming to terms with being less controversial, who knows. But Horvath does seem to be the better of the two atm. But, like we did with Horvath a few weeks ago, if Samba retains the shirt we need to give him a couple of games to get up to pace. I really dont mind who plays on Wednesday.
Or maybe dropping him has impacted his confidence because he no longer feels he can be himself

Could be that too?

That is no bad thing in my opinion ^^

Sambas kicking was good yesterday. Keep in goal.

He did drop a cross in the second half and flapped a bit in the first. He wasnt bad but it wasnt his best game.

Blackpool didn't close him down though like we were closing down their keeper. Horvath would have had no problem with his kicking yesterday.
I would like to see Horvath back for Coventry.

Its a big call by Cooper. Probably a much harder decision than not bringing Samba back after his suspension.
RE: Blackpool - Nottingham Forest - JollyLolly - 03-04-2022
What a great problem to have, 2 excellent goalkeepers for the Championship, both with their good and bad points. If we can have this same situation in EVERY position on the pitch we would storm the league.
RE: Blackpool - Nottingham Forest - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 03-04-2022
These problems are every managers dream.
Samba or Horvath, Davis or Surridge or Grabban, Zink or Lolley etc etc.
I will throw this out there too, Figs has been immense and hasn't put a foot wrong since he came back into the side. Thank God we didn't let him go in January. So soon we can add Figs or Cook.
