Yes agreed I'm still happy with it too. I'm not even sure I think it's a bad idea shafting Hughton, makes it much easier to justify sacking him without damaging our reputation too much. Without knowing about our incomplete squad most would look in and see 4 defeats and think it's fair to change manager.
Then a new manager comes in after Derby, with Garner, left back, striker, Worrall at least and suddenly has a completely different team so should improve just because of that.
This is pretty harsh on Hughton of course and not how I'd like to see it run but this appears to be how it's playing out.

Yes Vrentzos failed at recruitment but succeeded in other things. (A great many other things and a formidable negotiator.)
Dane may succeed in recruitment but completely fail in other things.
We'll see. Hand on heart for the sake of the club I hope he does well.
Fair comment. Mr. V has been a force for good for Forest. I think he's been a vital force for turning around the club that was 'not fit for purpose.'
So the Greek model of recruitment didn't suit Forest. (Though I'd argue that some of the player churn was to flip players for profit. We did bring in some good players under Mr. V's recruitment over the last several years. Grabban. Sow. Mckenna being some examples.)
Not many things have in the last 20 years. Had Mr. V appointed Hughton sooner than last season's recruitment would have matched the manager and Forest would be well on their way. Football and life at Forest doesn't always work out neatly. It's fine margins.
Mr. V oversaw the complete overhaul of Forest off the field, probably involved in appointing Dane. So if Dane does well he take credit for appointing him.
You'd have to be harsh not to recognise that Mr. V oversaw the Tier 1 Academy and new ground stuff and some good managerial appointments that didn't work out for reasons that have been well rehearsed.

leading up to where we are everything significant for success has not delivered
this is where we are, 10 days of the transfer window and 42 games to go, things can turn around, but please this really isn't the time for any high 5's
the owners do something good and tangible yes let's talk about it, but a Cat A academy don't amount to a hill of beans at this moment in time

Reading some of your comments PPS you would think that we had been relegated to League 2, placed in a transfer embargo, lost our training ground, put into administration and the club was on the verge of going bust. Get a f*****g grip.

Do we blame FFP, do the owners want to throw £20m at the squad but not allowed? I don't know.
At this moment in time, whatever the objectives for the club are, i conclude it is a failure, as of now, hopefully this is the low point, the turning point, but things are much more difficult now due to indecisiveness and very poor and a total neglect of basic common sense foresight
On the pitch things are at rock bottom, however from a financial perspective the owners have acquired the ground, got the cat A and close to getting planning permission, reduced to the wage bill to rock bottom, it could be a good time to sell though being bottom of the league is something they maybe didn't think to address/avoid

You mean, being 'prepped' for sale? Or listening to offers? If Mari got a really good offer? Lots of 'ifs' there. I don't see it. Though Randall and co make it clear they're only the custodians of the club for a time whilst they're here.
It could equally be re-interpreted as what we've been doing hasn't been working and it's part of the off the field progression of restructuring.
You look at what Mari' has done at Oly' and have think he's a keeper who doesn't walk away from a project. Oly' is superb from what I've seen of it. There's no reason that transformation can't happen at Forest. It's underway. And it has Mari's ambition and fingerprints over it. I think it's a good future. It will be short term pain though.
Forest thought they could do it quickly and it 'almost' worked with Aitor but that combusted. Some wanted a CEO or a new one and we have that. A progressive appointment. Seems with a view of picking up talent (and selling at max value after developed. A bit like Southampton's business model?). We have two stand out signings in Garner and Zinc. But it's not enough, clearly.
FFP limits what Forest can do vs Premiership Parachute payments. So the CEO, the Manager, recruitment and the academy are important keystones. Of those, we're just waiting for recruitment to catch up with the installation of the new CEO. Mari has tried to change it up, to be fair. Mr. V gave it four years and has taken a step back. He's still a director?
I don't see Mari' walking away. He doesn't seem that kind of character to me. I'm glad we have him as the owner. Forest are a world wide brand. He knows that. Forest will rake it in if they can just get promoted.

I would like to hear from him to be fair, it has been 4 years so to hear his current plans for us would be timely. More chance of Pep taking over from Chris though. Something has to give in the course of the next week.
