Well I'm sure he'd rather have Liverpool's squad, was the point being made.

But he elected not to close the gap in terms of the players at his disposal?

You were in the room with him were you? I'm sure if he had the option to sign better players he would have chosen to.

He was quoted to that effect.

Do you think EM refused to back him?

RE: Nuno Espirito Santo - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 12-05-2025

EM had money burning a hole in his pocket.

He wanted to spend on a Striker.

Nuno wanted one too but not just any one but only a specific one.

I can see the argument from both sides.

Well hopefully the hole will be filled in the summer, Has to be the 1st signing.

RE: Nuno Espirito Santo - Salvatore Matrecano - 12-05-2025

It’s pretty narrow minded to have a sole target especially if they are a current high performing Premier League player.
Respect Nuno for wanting a small squad and EM for honouring those wishes but that we are short on forward options is plain for all to see. We could have been in a very different battle altogether had Wood picked up a bad injury in the early season.

He was also quoted defending EM after yesterday, he's a pro and is playing the game.

I think it was a surprise and an error that we didn't manage to sign more depth in January, however to put that on Nuno feels unlikely to me. I'm no more in the room than anyone else so we're all relying on whatever has been fed to the media.

It feels unlikely to me, given how Nuno has used Jota & Sosa that he would've been turning down attacking reinforcements when offered to him.

Me too but it was evident how thread bare the squad was / is.

RE: Nuno Espirito Santo - Fumanchew - 12-05-2025

Unless we no a list of players courted in January the prices that were quoted and then the personal terms expected for player and agent we really can’t comment fully what was good or bad for the club in the end

RE: Nuno Espirito Santo - northeastred - 13-05-2025

Report in Spain suggesting we are considering Ernesto Valverde

RE: Nuno Espirito Santo - RyanR - 13-05-2025

I can’t say I’m surprised to see Valverde’s name being mentioned. He’s worked for Marinakis twice and has managed at the top level.

It would be a shame to see Nuno go, but I think Valverde would be EM’s number 1 choice

RE: Nuno Espirito Santo - Jimmygordon - 13-05-2025

Can anyone really see Nuno go?

RE: Nuno Espirito Santo - Marinakis Red - 13-05-2025

I think Sniff alluded to the fact they are not on great terms.

RE: Nuno Espirito Santo - Paplane - 13-05-2025

Its nonsense. Journalists seeing EM lose his shit and turning it into a story about the manager being replaced.
