RE: Chelsea - Nottingham Forest - Paplane - 07-10-2024

Even before yesterday I'd developed a distinct dislike for Jackson. His antics yesterday confirm I'm a good judge of character. What an arse.

Hope MGW is OK. Also. JWP what an idiot, how can you do that on a yellow, crazy decision, lucky it didn't cost us the game.
Can't believe that save at the end from Sanchez, I was already celebrating

JWP's decison proved to be the right one though Wassy. Don't forget that.

Yeah no thanks to him! Jackson wasn't even through anyway, there was a covering defender. Who's to say that didn't cost us the win?! It annoyed me at the time and now he's banned for the Palace game.

Lucky with have the mighty Yates still, another superb performance from him. Also Aina absolutely shut down Sancho, the commentators definitely thought he was our best player on the day.

It was the instinct Wassy.

It is not something you can just switch on or off in a second, it happens so quickly.

I don't blame JWP at all, I believe 99% of other players would have done the same thing.

RE: Chelsea - Nottingham Forest - Salvatore Matrecano - 07-10-2024

Agreed on JWP it was the right thing to do for us. To be honest thought he was lucky not to get straight red because it was clearly intentional and our covering defender was a long way off.

Disagree completely, you need to be able to control your instincts, that's just decision making.

Looks like no retrospective action to be taken against Jackson. Apparently VAR reviewed the offence but deemed it wasn't worthy of punishment.

A subbed player coming of the bench to join an onfield handbag swinging contest is not worthy of punishment.
Every Chelsea player who stepped on the field should've been red carded.

In a second?

How does that work?

You only get a second to decide whether to pass, shoot or cross, or to make a tackle or not. It's the same logic for this, his natural reaction on a yellow card should not be to take another one.

If he'd kicked Jackson instead to stop the counter on a yellow, it'd be just as bad. We were looking like we could score a winner before that and then had to sit deep (although we did still create some great chances so did they though).

RE: Chelsea - Nottingham Forest - RyanR - 07-10-2024

The Ward-Prowse second yellow shows how far we’ve come. There was a game before where McKenna gave the ball away in a similar position and the other team scored to come back and win the game (Bournemouth or Brentford maybe?). We’re now much more streetwise and difficult to play against. We were soft and naive under Cooper and even last season. Now we’ll fight and scrap for every point

No final decision made yet, the referee panel can still review and change it. From clips I saw he clearly swung a punch, not sure if it connected. Morato looks like he can handle himself to me.

So what if he had used his judgment and allowed Jackson to run on and score the winner?
Where I agree with you is that I don’t think it was instinct from JWP at all, think he made a deliberate decision to grab the ball, one he made instantly.
