RE: Nottingham Forest - Preston - JWJW - 07-11-2021 Good result and performance. I am become more frustrated with Mighten. I dont think he is ready yet. Needs a season on loan in L1 playing week in and out like Johnson did. RE: Nottingham Forest - Preston - audiosmee - 07-11-2021 I’m not sure Mighten has the right tactical mindset for the championship just yet- he is a bit slow to assess the situation and isn’t sharp enough in defensive transitions- he wasn’t pressing like the others which on another day would leave big gaps. Infinitely coachable however… RE: Nottingham Forest - Preston - audiosmee - 07-11-2021 (06-11-2021, 11:55 PM)Strawberry Avenger Wrote:(06-11-2021, 08:05 PM)BestwoodRed Wrote: Anyone know if anything happened with James Garner today? Nuff said… Not sure he appreciated being the more forward focused of the midfield either- think he likes to pitch in front of him RE: Nottingham Forest - Preston - Tricky - 07-11-2021 (07-11-2021, 09:41 AM)audiosmee Wrote:(06-11-2021, 11:55 PM)Strawberry Avenger Wrote:(06-11-2021, 08:05 PM)BestwoodRed Wrote: Anyone know if anything happened with James Garner today? No offence to the lad, but he has been pretty poor this season, compared to last. Maybe Man Utd will recall him in January? RE: Nottingham Forest - Preston - Salvatore Matrecano - 07-11-2021 Wrong. He walked off with the physio so I assume he had a minor knock. Good decision to bring Garner on for me, Zinc was wasteful, we were dropping deeper into our own half at the start of the 2nd. Dont know why he wouldnt be comfortable there, it was still playing CM which is what he does. For all the eulogising of Colback, and he was a deserved MOM, Im not convinced from yesterday’s display. We conceded possession a lot and gave balls away however we took our chances which is what happens when confidence is high like it is now. Thought defensively we look stronger with a back 4 but lost a bit of that fluidity we had which is where Garner can offer a bit more to the midfield. Garners time will come, he is a very good young player who will get stronger mentally on the back of this. The possession we conceded was very rarely down to Yates or Colback. They did their jobs superbly. Both were up and down the pitch like Harry Hodge (albeit less quality versions) and popping up in both boxes. I don't think they could have done much more tbf. Other areas of pitch we conceded a bit sloppily from time to time, but the perfect 90 minutes is very very rare in this division. But I do see where you're coming from. Maybe it's a bit of worrying that the wheels might come off again as they have done many times over last 20 odd years. Focus on these 3 things though:-- We won comfortably It was entertaining again The lads are giving their all That will do me after the previous 18 months (or 20 odd years) RE: Nottingham Forest - Preston - Mcforest - 07-11-2021 What we are seeing is we can line up in different ways to go for a win. Teams don't know what we are going to do. This is good management that we can be so flexible. Dont get me wrong, it was fantastic to see a comfortable win and a side wanting to play attacking football. Agree McForest its great we seem to be able to change things mid game and have options unlike we did under Sabri for example. We remain a work in progress but it just all seems so much better. I'm enjoying watching us play so much at the moment I expect to wake up one morning and see Bobby Ewing taking a shower..... RE: Nottingham Forest - Preston - Redreg - 08-11-2021 Did we revert to a 4-3-3 when garner came on thats what it looked like to me seems this could also be a option a bit Kloppesque fullbacks still able to get high with a energetic mobile midfield 3 . Cooper is very tactically astute it seems and can change formation during games to get us on the front foot of to see out a game . It seems we have a Plan A ,B and C now we have been in every game has has taken charge of and i include the Fulham game as that was not a 4-0 game a crazy 10 minutes and some defensive mistakes flattered them . |
