Dunno if that squad rule has changed but I'm sure we've only named 24 players. Dennis not being one of them.

RE: Current Players Thread - McDurban - 13-09-2024

Maybe Dennis has been released on his own recognizance.

RE: Current Players Thread - Salvatore Matrecano - 13-09-2024

Nuno has got his wish, a smaller trimmed down and well balanced squad with everyone in it capable of contributing. Reckon thats the first time in quite a few years where we haven’t had fillers, those not up to the grade, seeing out their contract or someone who wasn’t wanted to begin with.

Seems to stand to reason that makes for a happier and competitive environment, up to Nuno to deliver with it now and of course if he doesn’t the mood may turn quickly. But on evidence to date things are definitely moving forward.

The only two I wonder about are Omo and Dominguez, I like the former but he needs games.

Was a big fan of Dominguez when he arrived but he hasn’t really made any position his own or become first choice under either manager

Its good to see Danilo in the squad too! Maybe they are optimistic of him making an earlier recovery than first feared

RE: Current Players Thread - Widdow - 13-09-2024

Kept one spot available. That will probably be taken up if one of the keepers gets injured and we need to bring someone in as a free agent. Same for a striker

I looked at that list 3 times and couldn't see his name. Haha

Yes, that looks positive for him and us.

What am I missing about Ola Aina? He’s been one of our highest performers consistently since signing (in an unnatural position) exemplified by the performance he put in today. Yet not tied into a long term contract or seemingly recognised as an essential component of this exciting team - anyone know if anything is in the works to tie him down and reward him properly?

New deals for CHO, MGW and Aina as a matter of urgency

Seconded - I feel like we need to act fast before agents get even more leverage to use against us in making that happen.

My only small and enduring criticism from today (not a day for this I know, but more an observation) is that I am still a little bamboozled as to what Dominguez really brings to the table. Apart from this minor question mark, what a team / squad we have - great days!

RE: Current Players Thread - Salvatore Matrecano - 17-09-2024

Random thought, wont put it in transfer thread as only conjecture.
So Elanga to Newcastle in January for a healthy profit. Need a replacement. Theres a young wide forward at Tottenham who seems to be having a really tough time and could use some love. Loan with an option. Would you take him back?

I moved on a long time ago.
Not a chance I'd want him back.

... I assume you're talking 'bout Spence?
