RE: Champions League - Europa League - Conference League - Plymouth red - 08-06-2025 Let's face it, if forest were not the beneficiaries of this decision, we would all believe palace deserve to be in the europa league and would support the sentiment of sky sports. They did what we couldn't do and beat man city. They are there on merit. To some extent, getting into the europa league by default feels wrong as much as it would be great. We had that chance and did not take it RE: Champions League - Europa League - Conference League - stirred - 08-06-2025 I would be pragmatic about it if not for what has gone before. If it was based on merit on the pitch and we don’t stick to the letter of rules why were we deducted 4 points last season? The problem is when rules are stuck to some of them time and not others. And if they throw the book at us for breaching the letter of the law then why the hell should we not expect others to be treated the same? Let Palace off? Just a slap of the wrist for Chelsea? Man City? Why?! How is that fair? It appears to be the same information that has been known since the story broke. You're probably right but personally I think our performances over the season deserved to be rewarded with a bit more than the shitty conference league. So if we eventually get Europa via this route it'll be well deserved im my book. We had twice the season Palace had. RE: Champions League - Europa League - Conference League - Salvatore Matrecano - 09-06-2025 Disagree with you there Pap. That Europa place has diddly squat to do with the league season, that we did better than Palace overall is irrelevant. If Palace end up being kicked out so be it but it will be another example of big club bias. Reckon they would kick Man Utd out if they had won the FA cup? Me neither. Also I sincerely hope we are not lobbying UEFA behind the scenes, that would be hugely distasteful and will come back to bite us. Its the kind of thing a fan podcast would put out. Where's the facts? And if I were a Palace fan I'd be majorly peeved at these events. Yes, you can argue that a big club wouldn't be being punished, but I can guarantee a big club wouldn't have put themselves in this position in the first place. It's rank mis-management that's got them in this position. Its a lack of forsight, and manoueverings by owners who are only interested in their own position, and their own power base. RE: Champions League - Europa League - Conference League - Paplane - 09-06-2025 I have no time for Steve Parish. I recall a few years back he was lobbying really hard for parachute payments to be maintained at a time when clubs like ours, especially ours, were really struggling to compete against relegated sides. It was the way he was framing his argument, that relegated prem sides literally have a 50/50 chance of being relegated again in the first season. It was a ridiculuous argument he was making and it was clear he was just looking after number one as at that time his club had a year on year danger of being relegated. |
