Wilder has categorically said he wants it. He is the best choice - improved every team he went to and although went wrong in the premiership still had his principles

It’s localish to his family home and at a club the same size where he has just been. It doesn’t have the same emotional pull but has spoke fondly of Forest in the past. One thing impressive is that he has turned underperforming forest players into promotion and premiership players- Robinson- mcgoldrick - Osborn - and tenuous sharp and Burke! He knows the league and his assistant Alan knill is also a very respected coach. Has been in the frame a while back too. Cooper I’m unsure of- think he would be OK but is relatively inexperienced and Swansea not enamoured with the quality of play- even we had more of the ball against them last season and we’re arguably the better team.

I agree. I feel we’d miss a trick not going for him while he’s available.
Cooper for me would be underwhelming. Wilder would get this lot sorted I’m sure.

It came during a period where there were some small glimmers of progress - unfortunately they were extinguished by an appalling finale to the season and dreadful start.
We shall see. Not opposed to either at this stage

I really like Wilder but does he fit into a longer term strategy based around youth, pathway from academy to first team etc? Or is he another appointment based on previous CV? I know the piece in the Post talks about him being happy to work under Dane and with a younger squad but how long would he be happy to do that? I'm torn over Wilder on the one hand I do really like him, like the football he plays and I think he'd get the best out of this squad in the short term but I just don't know about the long term with him, feels almost like another flavour of the month appointment.

You could argue that 90% of appointments made in this league turn out to be short term appointments.
I know we would all like a manager to come in for 3 or 4 seasons but when does that happen nowadays.
And you could argue that short term is all we can thibk about considering the clubs position

Wilder was perfectly set for Shef Utd- a club man, supporter, local. Why would we think he would have that with Forest? Not the direction we’re aiming at- certainly not ‘true north’
Alan Knill- we’ll have him on the staff tho please
