Berlin has never had and still hasn’t got a team that competes on the European stage.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of how they got there PSG played some of the best football Ive ever seen this year. Shows that signing Galacticos isn't the way to do it either. Suspect that is a model that will be copied throughout football, big names shunned in favour of talented teenagers. Thats where the biggest money signings will be in the coming seasons. Anyone over 25 will be lucky to get a fee.

In that case it sounds like over 25s is where the value will be if you can pick them up for cheap.

Thats the way its already going and my hunch the trend will continue to lower the peak value age. Its why if we are going to cash in on MGW its best to do it now or accept he will leave for a fraction of the amount in a years time. The counter argument of course if he wins us the ECL its money well spent.

It actually makes it more of a risk. Huge money will be spent on completely unproven players, Chelsea seem to have done reasonably well but there will be plenty of expensive flops, some team will get badly burned. We found Murillo but it doesn’t mean every teenager from Brazil will make it, I hope we’ve done our homework well.

There will be bargains to be had for experienced players, the trick of course is to find proper pros like Wood and Grabban and leave well alone the Lingards and Shelveys.

Compare that with Lodon a similar size city which currently has seven PL clubs.

They’ve got two come the start of next season, Paris FC were promoted.

Didn’t realise Brondby were also part owned by someone at palace so they wouldn’t automatically drop down to the conference league

Itd be a travesty if somehow Brighton got into the Europa amd we didn't.

No, it means they replace them in Europe by taking Conference, we would take Europa.

I feel like its less likely to happen because of the Brondby thing. I could see a scenario where they bumped them down to Conference League but to have the FA Cup winners not in Europe at all feels pretty unlikely.

Given all the loopholes other clubs find I just can't see it.

I'm sure there'll be some cash-involving way that Textor gets Palace to compete still.

It would be ironic though given all the business between EM and Textor if we got awarded their Europa League spot. Seems a bit of an oversight for Palace not to have done what EM did though when they got to the FA Cup Final. That might count against them I suppose.

RE: Champions League - Europa League - Conference League - Jimmygordon - 02-06-2025

How can Palace get away with it? Forest and Brighton could sue UEFA surely? Unless that's why we have 3 new signings incoming?

RE: Champions League - Europa League - Conference League - Trailer Park Tom - 02-06-2025

Palace deserve their spot although this is all pretty dodgy.

As someone mentioned above I can't see someone like Textor getting done over with this when so many others have dodged it.

Well we won't have to wait long to find out.

We should know in a few hours.

UEFA can't afford to drag their feet with their decision.

Palace won't be kicked out nor should they be
