RE: Developing Our Squad For Season 2021/22 - optimistic_red - 01-07-2021 Very interesting and detailed. RE: Developing Our Squad For Season 2021/22 - Tricky - 01-07-2021 The most interest point I picked up from that was the potential to drop Ryan yates into a CB position. I think that would work really well and would overcome some of the criticisms Ryan often gets playing as a CDM RE: Developing Our Squad For Season 2021/22 - Madforit - 01-07-2021 (01-07-2021, 11:24 AM)Tricky Wrote: The most interest point I picked up from that was the potential to drop Ryan yates into a CB position. Could be the replacement for Worrall RE: Developing Our Squad For Season 2021/22 - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 01-07-2021 We don't need a replacement for Worrall he aint going anywhere. Ca-ching :D RE: Developing Our Squad For Season 2021/22 - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 18-07-2021 Been impressed with Fornah and Fernandes so far. Perhaps this season is a bit too early for them but they both look like they could be handy in the future. Can't make my mind up about Gabriel though. I think that would work really well and would overcome some of the criticisms Ryan often gets playing as a CDM Cash certainly had all the tools to make a top right back or wing back from the off. I like Yates, but I'm not sure his strengths play to CB role. He could certainly do a job there, but his biggest asset is work rate-wasted at CB. So to be a really good CB in Championship what do you need? I tried it in order of what I think is important. 1.Heading ability: tick 2. Spotting danger early: not sure 3. Physicality: tick 4. Pace off the mark: not sure 5. Tackling ability: tick 6. Positional sense: unknown as CB 7. Good control: tick 8: passing range: tick 9: Able to carry ball out: tick With hindsight 6 should probably be higher, but it was done quickly. The characteristics of a top RB (would include pace, attacking play, 1v1 defending etc), Matty Cash ticked every box except positional play, which he gained very quickly. I wouldn't feel as confident that Yates would be a huge success at CB, but his attitude and application to improvement would probably prove me wrong. RE: Developing Our Squad For Season 2021/22 - wassy04 - 21-07-2021 I couldn't find this anywhere but I'm sure someone has posted it. This is our current squad for the upcoming season: Keepers Samba Horvath Smith RB Gabriel Richardson LB Blackett CB Worrall McKenna Figs Soh DM/CM Yates Cafu Colback Fornah AM Carvalho LW/RW Lolley Mighten Johnson Da Costa Striker Grabban Taylor Bomb squad Arter, Jenkinson, Bong Players Added (compared to last season) Johnson Horvath Carvalho Da Costa Gabriel Fornah Richardson Players Removed Ameobi Garner Krovinovic Christie I've definitely forgotten some players and have not included some of the academy players we've been using so far in pre season. Can try and keep this updated, could even make it a sticky post (someone more senior is welcome to update it instead of me!) This is our current squad for the upcoming season: So we probably need 2 RBs, 1 LB, 1 CM, 1 AM, 1/2 Strikers (depending on Taylor) to have a full squad. Or is that too much? RE: Developing Our Squad For Season 2021/22 - Reds73 - 21-07-2021 Tyrese Fornah definately needs adding. Richardson will go on loan as soon as we sign a left back. He couldn’t get a regular game at L2 level last season so there is no way he can be even second choice. Blackett will need to cover LB and CB positions. |
