It's not as if the team has been getting better in these additional matches. Just seems to be knackering the squad. Hopefully no new injuries and mgw will be okay as we will need him to start finding the form he had over Christmas period.

2nd best team over 3.5 hours of football vs a mid table Championship side. Didnt do nearly enough to win.
Poor both in terms of quality and tactically.
Individual mistakes throughout.
2 hours of football we didn’t need with a huge game in 3 days time and some partially fit players having to go far longer than ideal.
Picked up yet more injuries.
However we are through which is good for morale
Some minor positives:
Both Tavares and Williams played well and look far better as wing backs
Gardner had an encouraging debut.

Not gonna bash origi - first start on nearly 7 weeks (which he has to be subbed Cus of bolys red card) Felipe - first minutes in 9 weeks and Kouyate his first Forest minutes in 8 weeks.
Montiel gave me a heart attack first half! Definitely thought Williams would come on for him after the break.
Danilo performed better after the first subs, was very frustrating to watch him go backwards until the more progressive players came on.
For someone who scored on his return against Arsenal, taiwo spent a few seconds too long on the ball when he was 1 on 1, hopefully just an off night for him.

Definitely some rusty players in the team which didn’t help but as a side we looked like a team of strangers and most looked like they had never played that formation before.
Montiel was so bad people around me were openly laughing at him. The number of times I heard “World Cup winner, my arse” or similar.
Danilo gave away the ball so many times but I will say this for the lad, he never gives up, he never hides, like his attitude.
The 45 mins from Tavares was the best Ive seen from him and he gets my MOM.

Tbf it’s not like we have been able to put out our first eleven though. Injuries, AFCON, eligibility and suspensions have resulted in having to put out make shift teams. Granted we should still have enough to win more convincingly against Championship and League One opposition but having to make those changes makes it difficult to find any form or consistency. That coupled with lower league clubs rising to the occassion makes it difficult - just as the likes of West Ham.

Ring rust for a few I will accept.
What I don’t get is people on here go on about how much strength in depth we have this season. If that was the case not fielding our first choice or 3 lads who arrived last week shouldn’t matter.
The Forest starting 11 contained 8 full internationals (only Danilo, MGW and Toff who weren’t) hardly a back up team. We are paying that lot some big money to be so called strength in depth. Please don’t give me the tough opponent raising their game line. We were poor and second best.
