RE: Nottingham Forest - Brighton - Salvatore Matrecano - 25-11-2023

Positives
- MGWs best game by a mile, just wish he could shoot and head it at goal.
- Yates back, was decent.
- Elanga again dangerous.
- Wood did OK.
- CHO back.
- Origi looked OK.
- Murillo tackle at end and a couple of great passes.

Negatives
- Our defence is a shambles. No leadership and no real experience.
- Couldn't score against 10 men.
- Missed header and great save could have got an undeserved point.
- All the bullsh1t this week about Brightons injuries and being there for taking. Then 3 of the injured players start the game, yet some on here are still shocked that Brighton are a top side. (It carried on in this thread, apparently because our young Brazilian u23 international Danilo - among others- kept giving ball away its down to coaching).
- Another lead with points dropped.
- We need a result rapidly to get some confidence.
- For an hour it appeared we had no fight in midfield (MGW aside) which is not acceptable. The last 20 mins or so there was a visible lift, but some of the half hearted tackles, getting beat in air at back post, pulling out of headers is not OK. Pretty football requires you to earn the right to play.

I may feel differently when I watch it back  but special mention to Anthony Taylor, who was a joke. Talking to Brighton fans afterwards, they said same. He was embarrassing himself. I actually began to pity him he was so bad. Didn't affect us losing, but was terrible for both teams. Pedro is a tool, but Murillo booted him in stomach after ball looked like it was gone, very silly.
The big guy who ran into MGW after and then threw himself on the floor should have been booked too.
Modern football has so many dislikeable aspects to it and that is certainly one of them.

Want to pick up on this because I agree.

No chance we concede 3 today with last seasons CB pairing of Felipe and Boly.
In my opinion both todays full backs of Toffolo and Aina are inferior to Lodi and Aurier. Think we had better Keeper(s) last season too.
We missed leadership for sure, Aurier should have played if fit.
Murillo is an outstanding talent but he is costing us too.

Not in my opinion Pap I think he's been immense the vast majority of the time.

Don't like to signal players out but I think Niakhate is the one who needs to up his game.

It was as if he was standing in treacle for the first goal today and some of his passing is woeful at times.

Totally lost midfield, Danilo woeful , Dominguez lost the plot for some reason.
Poor defensively, Ody should have saved the first, poor marking 2nd.

Whether you want to blame the manager is up to you. The team are playing for him though.

It's just suicide passing though again isn't it. Danilo could have easily gone down the line for a mgw chase, probably resulting in a throw in 50 yards up the pitch. But instead he plays it across the middle of the park.

We missed sangare and they were there for the taking today. Great to see MGW back causing problems.

There for the taking? They absolutely played us off the park and then had the fortitude to block off the game and get thewun. They were miles better than us and put in an excellent display. They were not there for the taking, they're quality.

Glad some can see that Pap. I agree but we play world class teams every week. We need to find a way to get results against them. But you say yourself you get frustrated by low block so not sure what the answer is.

Sadly we only took 5 points out of 9 at home against the 3 promoted sides, supposedly easier games, so we have made life difficult for ourselves. I am not going to shy away from saying need to better.

They are a brilliant side and deserved there win. They were absolutely there for the taking in the first half though and we gave the ball away twice for them to score in our own half. The left back was there for the taking and we were a goal up.you can't lead a game at home, score twice and say the game wasn't there for the taking. We had a winning formula against Chelsea and before and we shelved it due to owner and fan pressure. We will often be second best to teams trying to win playing in midfield at this level.

Yep. Its no shame losing to Brighton, they really are excellent amd to be honest they probably felt they were due a win against us after we took 4 points off them last season. If we were them today, had scored 3 goals at a tricky away tie, lost a man and put in a mammoth 20 mins at the end to hold on we'd be buzzing tonight. Bit we're no way near their level at the moment so probably couldnt have expected to win the game.

And I agree, those poor home results, and the loss of leads too this season might prove to be really costly for Cooper. Another loss or poor display and a draw even and it suddenly gets very tough for Cooper, unfortunately.

We aren't at their level over the course of a season but that's not how it works. We weren't Liverpools or Arsenal's level last season. But you can manage games in a way to get results.

RE: Nottingham Forest - Brighton - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 25-11-2023

Brighton hadn't won for six games in the PL and had been playing poorly.

Brighton were well on top in the game though Salv,  put in a top performance and gave us a bit of a lesson. Im in a pragmatic mood tonight. We're years away from putting in performance like that amd that's nothing to with Cooper.

They're quality Sniff. They have e a quality manager and as such their poor run wasnt going to go on for much longer. And they're 7th in the table though which isnt too shabby for a team coming off a poor run.

RE: Nottingham Forest - Brighton - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 25-11-2023

We took four points off Brighton last season though Pap.

Are you suggesting that we have gone backwards?
