I watched the game today and I was at the cup game, but I can’t fathom why some players aren’t turned on for every game, it was a bear sell out Wednesday so it’s not like they didn’t want to perform in front of a small crowd, it was prem opposition (one that let in 5 goals today) so mentally what was different do you think?

I'm a bit underwhelmed by the response to our win today on this forum. Unless I'm oblivious to another thread elsewhere? Given out goings and in comings on the transfer market (and the significance of an away win at Stamford Bridge) I would have have expected more. I've come here tonight expecting to see more celebration.
Is this forum just too cynical.....or clinically objective and am I getting it wrong?
I think we did f****g brilliantly today.

I am ecstatic at the progress we have made away as a team this season I’m very happy about todays win in particular my post above yours was just pondering why every performance can’t have the guts and the sweat and the endeavour today had.

I would say this is about as positive as it gets online! What a relaxing international break we have in store.

3 pts, 2 weeks break to assist in allowing the squad to gel with their new additions (those not on international duty at least - which is most :D) and so much to be excited about when we resume 18th Sept - for the first time in a long time with sincerity, it’s great to be a red ❤️

It was a brilliant day, a brilliant hard working performance. Loved Cooper after talking about how we are going to evolve. Looking at the fixtures we were dealt at the start of the season and the difficulty of them, who would of thought we will be sitting on 6 points as it stands.
I said earlier in the summer if we're not in the bottom 3 after city away then we are cooking. We definitely won't be and could be sitting quite pretty of we do the business against Burnley. And pretty much been to all of the top 6 away.
A fantastic start to the Season. As Depeche Mode state, I just cannot get enough.

What a day! Was too tired and emotionally drained to do this last night. I've been traipsing around the Country for over a year waiting for a day like yesterday (I actually expected us to win at Southampton). It could/should have happened at Old Trafford, but to take that disappointment and in the next game get that elusive 3 away points is immense.
Anyway:
Positives
- Clean sheet.
- Back 3 were superb but have to pick out the Captain for special praise. The number of times I muttered "brilliant Joe" or "nice one Joe" was off the charts. I'm sick to death of (as Clougjie would say) "know nowts" saying Joe isn't a Premier league player. I've been saying since Villa away that Joe has appeared to have found his feet in the Premier, he has been superb all season, but yesterday was as good a Centre back performance as you are likely to see anywhere this season. In difficult personal circumstances too. I was quite emotional when Steve Cooper guided Joe back towards away end on his own to take the ovation as 3000 appreciative supporters sang his name. I tell you this much, no-one is dislodging him from the team anytime soon. He was simply brilliant and yes like any player there will be mistakes in future but he will do for me and 3000 others.
- McKenna and Boly followed Joe's lead, especially in last 15 minutes.
- Yates did what Yates does and was everywhere, absolutely superb.
-Elanga! As daft as this might sound, having seen a bit more of him now, I'd rather we signed him from ManU than any of their other multi million £ wingers. His raw pace gives him such an edge, but he worked so hard and took his goal superbly. His run near end was almost goal of the season. I love how 2 footed he is.
- Full backs. Aina was quite self critical about his performance, but I think he's being a little harsh as He worked his nuts off trying to contain Gusto and Sterling. I think LB problem is solved for years to come and he will get better too.
- Mangala really played well. Sangare is going to have to wait his turn unless a rejig for Danilo injury.
- Taiwo was again the focal point we all hoped for this time last year. I want to reiterate how superbly he and our coaching team have done to turn a weakness into a strength in a relatively short space of time. He now looks so good with his back to goal as well as facing them up. Going to be tough keeping hold of him now as he looks like the full package.
- Attitude, commitment and sheer work rate of every player involved. They put everything on the line throughout.
- Support was supeb again, though it seems amazing thst Chelsea was an intimidating place to visit back in the day so quiet.
- Chant of the day " All that money and you're still sh1t"
- 3 POINTS AWAY FROM HOME!!
Negatives
- Train strike meant no aftermatch celebrating.
' Injuries to Aurier and Danilo didn't look great.
- Still giving away possession cheaply higher up the pitch too often.
- My only concern going forward is form of MGW, a special talent whose work rate is phenomenal, but imagine how good we might be if he gets his creative side going again.
- Two weeks to wait for next game.
Summary, if Calsberg did away days....
The new signings will have to bide their time and even Felipe will be left on bench I expect next game. If Sangare is as good people say then he might be considered fairly soon. But well done to all the lads. Ureds.
