RE: Nottingham Forest - Burnley (EFL Cup) - The reds - 30-08-2023

The game overall was just so poor - Making 7 changes just shows how poor our squad depth is - Willy Boly and Kouyate are just to slow, Williams isn’t a Left Back, Aurier isn’t a Right Centre Back, Wood was really poor - When Gibbs White and Johnson came on we did have more openings going forward, We do need some more creative players can’t rely on Gibbs White

4-3-3 is the way to go at home

Positives:
- It was only a tenner.
- I don't have to watch it again.
- Boly was decent and didn't get injured.
- Brandon Aguilera really looked the part.
- Traffic home was light.
- I got to see around 15 minutes or so of an old fashioned formation with 2 wide men.
- I also got to see a World Cup winner represent Nottingham Forest for the first time, though I'm wondering if its a wind up
- They never looked like scoring, until the subs came on.

Negatives:
- Never tested that clown Muric once.
- When the big hitters came on at 0-0 we looked like conceding every time they got the ball (which was alot as we kept giving it them).
-  Burnley B team loved it when we had 2 wingers on pitch. Just waltzing through us at will, scoring and nearly scored again.
- Turners distribution completely deserted him tonight.
- Atmosphere was sh1te, surrounded by kids and tourists. You know its going to be a bad night when people around you sing "Mist rolling in from the SEA" f#(King part timers.
- First viewing of new players hopefully not indicative of their ability.

Very hard watching, but kind of expected in many ways once team announced, hopefully we can smash them in a couple of weeks in the league and this game will be forgotten, now to Chelsea with no trains- again!!

That was shocking and if we play like that in our league game verses Burnley our fans may turn. So negative with 8 defenders - 3 of which are right full backs.
Turner- 1 amazing stop. Distribution crap - not clam enough on the ball under a press.
Aurier- played well last time he played RCB - not tonight
Niakhate - specialist LCB playing centrally- why?
Boly- playing LCB probablyour best player and he had an average game
Montiel- made me absolutely howl with laughter- he must have thought what the f**k have I done. Moaned like f**k and looked absolutely flabbergasted at what he was watching. Played a ball to Yates that was great if Yates was Brennan Johnson but looked on as Yates lumbered after it thinking FFS.
Williams - awful tonight - he gets up and down well but no quality whatsoever on the ball and cutting inside - he is right footed so understandable but just very average- toff played much better
Santos - some glimpses when he was in a 2 after the subs with some good fist time and quick progressive passes but nowhere near ready for the physicality of the league. When playing deep first half - players didn’t trust him. Partly at fault for goal with poor clearance
Yates - very poor tonight and I am a Yates fan. Missed a sitter with his 50p head. Gave several fouls and missed a tackle leading to the goal. Just a bad day and gets a pass due to his other decent performances. Was overshadowed by berge when he came on and showed what level he needs to be at for a similar player.
Kouyate - does what he does but can’t do it at his age for long.
Elanga- very raw - can see what we will miss if jonno goes - his end product isn’t there. Fast and works hard.
Woods- did OK, worked hard and did a great piece of hold up play. Needs better supply.

Subs
Brennan - tried and nearly made instant impact- got stuck in so can’t accuse him of downing tools and wanting out
MGW - almost instant impact with an incisive first time pass as his first touch
Toff- best left back at the club played well
Awonyi- didn’t do much - no service
Aguilera - better than santos and looked good to me - may have a decent option here

Cooper- post match he was critical but if he set them up to play so passive he has to realise he is in danger of losing the home support. A deep block away against top 6 sides with low possession is acceptable- not at home against a newly promoted side who made more changes than us.

Disappointed in that tonight - play like that again on Saturday and Chelsea will smash us.

Can anyone put a positive spin on any individual player please.
Cooper really pissed in his post match interview saying "we got what we deserved." and " we went too long too early" is he advocating hoofball? Didn't hear too much positivity from him which is unusual

Christine- can on after they scored and did really well for me. Looked stronger than I thought and did well in a deeper midfield position. He made a mistake and bust a gut to put it right. He has potential and looked physically and technically good- much better than santos.

It’s not an individual player but one positive was no one got injured so we can get rid of them in the last 2 days

Has he turned into potter and holding the players back? If we get sangare for 35m and his other targets he has no excuses

I'm not a happy camper after that.
I simply do not believe in sending out weaker teams for cup games.

Burnley made more changes (9) and still out passed us at home.

Bit harsh. They fannied about with the ball in their own half mostly and brought on Berge fairly early due to injury who was decent.Looked like 2 cobbled together teams for most part. I think the goal was the first chance in whole game for either side?

RE: Nottingham Forest - Burnley (EFL Cup) - Fumanchew - 31-08-2023

All I saw was a team of Burnley players constantly on their backs to break up any positive play we had.

The ref was f*****g awful as well

RE: Nottingham Forest - Burnley (EFL Cup) - HebdenRed - 31-08-2023

It was shit. We know it and coops knows it.

Don’t think I’ve heard him as critical as this with Radio Nottm
