That is interesting Widdow because I heard that he would be happy to stay at Barnsley. However EM can be very very persuasive when he needs to be! I would currently put this at 50/50. Yeah we will see, but I've heard he HAS agreed to come. It was actually Vrentzos who has driven it RE: Potential New CEO? - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 15-06-2021 Yes Vrentzos had a say in choosing his potential successor. I hope he comes by the way. Taking an employee is not like taking a player with a registration. The Employee can simply resign and move to another employer. Any 'negotiation' will be with regard to shortening his notice period, which for a CEO will be 6 or 12 months probably. But that would be unlikely to be insisted upon by Barnsley as there's a conflict of interest involved the moment he says he coming to us. He would be put on garden leave immediately, which helps neither club nor the man himself. As you say, Forest will deny it but this news being leaked to the press will all be part of a softening up process, pre negotiation. And why are you going on about goalposts being moved? Why do you always want to put a negative spin on any piece of nffc news? I personally hope that Vrentroz continues to be involved, for continuation purposes. If a company's ceo buggers off, it's a rare luxury to have. For me as well. If Murphy is given the freedom to stamp his vision at Forest and if that vision is the same as at Barnsley then I believe we would have a potential issue. The overall football vision at Barnsley is to play with high intensity and high press - a playing style often called gegenpress. If Forest are to adopt to this playing style then where does that leave CH? Negative?? I have been on the ball about this, so perhaps that's why I am overly cautious and not over the line till its over the line, but i am very positive he will be a good for the club. RE: Potential New CEO? - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 15-06-2021 I would like to think that both Murphy and Hughton could both be a bit flexible if need be. RE: Potential New CEO? - GaribaldiRED - 15-06-2021 It will be very interesting to see what happens if Murphy is appointed. Maybe some compromises short term but not likely medium/long term. Would the CEO influence the style of football though? I took the 'stamp his vision' bit to relate more to recruitment rather than style of football. If he oversees a vision that's about recruiting smartly and frugally that should be able to fit into any style of play - it's finding the players that fit both criteria. I wouldn't have thought he'd be able to or want to influence the style of football but from the article it appears that Barnsely are part of a multi-club operation run by their ownership. It says all clubs in the chain play in a similar way. Presumably that means the players and managers being scouted are sought for similar attributes. That may be interesting EM a lot. See your point SR and you might be right. I just got the impression after reading and watching some interviews with Murphy that it all fits perfectly together at Barnsley. The have decided on an overall playing style and recruit players, staff and managers based on that. They want to play with gegenpress and have as a consequence only recruited managers from Germany and Austria. They will not hire a manager that doesn't play with gegenpress. At Forest maybe they decide to go with a different playing style but if we are to follow the "Barnsley vision" then every player, staff or manager hired must fit with that playing style. RE: Potential New CEO? - Marinakis Red - 15-06-2021 We may finally be putting together a team with a vision and a strategy for the long term good of the club. I have probably bored you all to tears the last 18 months with my posts on it and that we lacked it. This news is absolutely superb and for me the best bit of business we will do all year. Get this done and implemented. For those asking where it leaves hughton,he will have to fall in line with our strategy as any potential new manager will have to so were not ripping up blueprint after blueprint every time we appoint so we have long term plans and sustainability. Over the moon. |
