Lets keep things in perspective though. Injurys or not, this Brighton team is top drawer. There's no shame in losing to them. Its the poor results at home to Luton and Burnley that have cost us this season. Lets not forget, we were lucky to get a point v Burnley. Thats the Burnley team has 4 points so far.

Unusually going to reflect without watching back.
Positives
- MGWs best game by a mile, just wish he could shoot and head it at goal.
- Yates back, was decent.
- Elanga again dangerous.
- Wood did OK.
- CHO back.
- Origi looked OK.
- Murillo tackle at end and a couple of great passes.
Negatives
- Our defence is a shambles. No leadership and no real experience.
- Couldn't score against 10 men.
- Missed header and great save could have got an undeserved point.
- All the bullsh1t this week about Brightons injuries and being there for taking. Then 3 of the injured players start the game, yet some on here are still shocked that Brighton are a top side. (It carried on in this thread, apparently because our young Brazilian u23 international Danilo - among others- kept giving ball away its down to coaching).
- Another lead with points dropped.
- We need a result rapidly to get some confidence.
- For an hour it appeared we had no fight in midfield (MGW aside) which is not acceptable. The last 20 mins or so there was a visible lift, but some of the half hearted tackles, getting beat in air at back post, pulling out of headers is not OK. Pretty football requires you to earn the right to play.
I may feel differently when I watch it back but special mention to Anthony Taylor, who was a joke. Talking to Brighton fans afterwards, they said same. He was embarrassing himself. I actually began to pity him he was so bad. Didn't affect us losing, but was terrible for both teams. Pedro is a tool, but Murillo booted him in stomach after ball looked like it was gone, very silly.
The big guy who ran into MGW after and then threw himself on the floor should have been booked too.
Modern football has so many dislikeable aspects to it and that is certainly one of them.

Not going to make excuses, we were 2nd best.
Totally lost midfield, Danilo woeful , Dominguez lost the plot for some reason.
Poor defensively, Ody should have saved the first, poor marking 2nd.
Whether you want to blame the manager is up to you. The team are playing for him though.

Yep I think they're playing for him too which is good to see. The loss of Taiwo is massive for us/him. Taiwo was responsible for the upturn in form last season that kept us up. He's also always playing when we do well. We look a pretty poor side without him. Wood, despite being a big unit and good in the air, isnt a target man like Taiwo is. Imo Wood needs to be playing in a two or with a progressive player bursting into the box to get alongside him. That'll never happen here under Cooper.
Regardless of Awoniyi's injury, I just sense the players have just lost their way a little of late. Yes, we beat Villa, which was an excellent result but on another day we might not have won that game if Villa's strikers played to their level. On that basis id say the season so far is below par for the squad we have.
There are positives though. Elanga looks like hes getting better and better and CHO looked good when he came on today. Dominguez looks good too even if has been a bit off it these last few weeks. Maybe the lack of a pre season or something, and flying around the world on international duty is taking it's toll. Id rest him nect week and bring Yatesy in.

It's just suicide passing though again isn't it. Danilo could have easily gone down the line for a mgw chase, probably resulting in a throw in 50 yards up the pitch. But instead he plays it across the middle of the park.
We missed sangare and they were there for the taking today. Great to see MGW back causing problems.

Got distracted in my ramble above. I was going to say that if im right and we are going through a bit of a rough patch then its likely that big EM can see this too. So its regardless if the players are playi g for Cooper or not, the finger might well be on the trigger already. A few more poor results and other clubd like Bournemouth and Luton picking up a few points might put Cooper under big pressure. Again.
