Presume that you two are expecting a points deduction then? Because our performances have been good despite frustratingly not having points on the board to show for it. Not if we don't get out these stupid mistakes. We are conceding too many goals. I'm not sold on either Montial and Tavares. We've sold Mangala and are hoping Sangara who's been overlooked in afcon for a Hull City player is going to come good. We are one injury away up front and in midfield from being deep in the mud. Sorry for the doom and gloom but recruitment for me is what's going to cost us come May. So in answer to your question points deduction or no points deduction i am just not that confident. RE: May 2024 Where Will We Finish? - Mcforest - 13-02-2024 Don't think you can blame recruitment solely for where we are. Firstly on that logic it was recruitment that kept us up last year. We had next to no players all at championship level. But we managed to bring an assortment of available players into the club as we don't know what it is we are going to need at this stage to stay up. Second season we are a bottom end premier league club so Best to Ultimate category players aren't wanting to join due to risk of relegation. Therefore you have a pool of good to better for which we can only afford to bring in one from the better category a season. This season was recruitment of three types of players ones that we could change our style style, ones that use current style and ones that they believe would add a commercial element. This is what people call scatter gun approach because you end up with an unbalanced squad because you only see one approach, one system. Also with the over haul required we can't get everyone we need and either fill the gaps with short term answer or leave it open and hope for some luck. However this is what is happens if you wish progress in a short space of time. Everyone says look at Brighton they got it right but look at the first three seasons of Brighton. Always down the bottom spending lots on players who didn't work out with no P&S rules to deal with. They were like we are now. We could have carried on with the first season squad in the second season and would have gone down in my opinion but like others use it as the stepping stone to build on. However there is no guarantee we would come back up i.e Norwich. So to say recruitment is to blame is not true. It is a bit of everything and the wanting to progress. RE: May 2024 Where Will We Finish? - McDurban - 13-02-2024 16th for me. It'll require a 4 match run but i think they have it in them. Recruitment always gets the blame when things are not going our way but it doesn't get praised when things do go our way. Anyway that has been done to death so back to where do you think we will finish? RE: May 2024 Where Will We Finish? - Mcforest - 13-02-2024 Of course mate. Doesn't make me write or wrong just good chat. All that's missing is a beer. RE: May 2024 Where Will We Finish? - stefanduma - 13-02-2024 WITH the points deduction 16th. RE: May 2024 Where Will We Finish? - Salvatore Matrecano - 13-02-2024 No points off 15th More than 3 points off 18th RE: May 2024 Where Will We Finish? - David - 13-02-2024 I think we will be fine . We at last look like we can score goals and the defence will be helped by the returning players . We have a good manager who I hope stays with us . 15th for me with a run of 4 to 5 matches . Stay positive . RE: May 2024 Where Will We Finish? - wassy04 - 13-02-2024 I'm just not entirely sure who we're finishing above, particularly if Everton get points back. I'd go for 17th and finishing above the recently promoted sides. I see Palace improving when Roy goes plus when they get a few players back and too solid in defence. Everton pick up too many points consistently and I don't see anyone else dropping down. On the plus side, we just need to finish above Luton realistically to stay up. How hard can that be?! RE: May 2024 Where Will We Finish? - Sausage Roll - 13-02-2024 Really can't answer this until I know the points deduction (or not) situation. I think without a deduction we've got enough to stay up. With? It's dicey in my opinion. |
