RE: What Do We Need To Strengthen To Progress? - McDurban - 30-05-2023

From the relegated teams I'm interested in:

Up top (I really have a thing for left footed balance up top - changes the angles & crossing)
  • Patrick Bamford (29) - Left footed, 6'1 CF
  • Kelechi Iheanacho (26) - Left footed 6'1 CF
Attacking Midfield
  • Wilfried Gnonto (19) - Across the frontline
Central Midfield
  • James Ward Prowse (28) - DM
  • Tyler Adams (24) - DM
  • Youri Tielemans (26) - DM/CM
  • Dewsbury Hall (24) - Left Footed CM
Flanks
  • Kyle Walker-Peters (26) - RB
  • James Justin (25) - RB
  • Tino Livramento (20) - RB
Centre Back
  • Mohamed Salisu (24) - Left Footed, 6'3 CB
  • Pascal Struijk (23) - Left Footed, 6'3 CB

I can't see a LB that sparks my interest, maybe Luke Thomas but not sure.

Isn’t livermento a LB?

No a RB.

I am not suggesting we sign them all; they are just to illustrate there are options out there for different prices and different reasons. I am also assuming several departures recouping significant funds to help finance this eg dennis and freuler. It’s just for fun debate not dissection, and the transfer values are just my guesstimates!

I think we need 7 players: Goalie, LB, RB, CB, CM, CF, LW/LAM

Options: Goalkeeper
Henderson £20m
Livakovik £15-20m

Fullbacks
Spence £15-£20m RB
Walker-Peters £10-20m LB/RB
Justin £5-15m LB/RB
Lodi £15-£20m LB
Lewis Hall loan (LTB?) LB/LM
Richards £0 it’s like a new signing!

CB
Mavropanos £10m
Omobamidele £10-20m

CM
Coulibali £10m
Gagliardini £free
Zaniolo £25-30m

LW/LAM
Gnonto £15-20m
Harvey Barnes £25m
Demerai Gray £15-20m

CF
Abraham £50m
Goncalo Ramos £50m
Solanke £25-30m
Dovbyk £10-15m
Firmino £free
Vardy free?
Broja?

I would rather have Gyokeres than Solanke if I'm honest and will probably cost 50% the fee

Can you not imagine the uproar of some of our fans watching Bamford, he'll get more stick than Chris Wood.

Walker-Peters is the standout of the relegated players that we could realistically target. I really hope that's one we try to make happen.

Is he that good?

Always been very poor when I've seen him play

That's a good answer.

RE: Current Players Thread - McDurban - 07-06-2023

I've just watched a bit of Alex Scott. exciting young player and U21.
Can play anywhere through the middle.
Sure he has a few suitors.

Good player but would play in similar area of pitch to MGW.
We’re effectively going to be building around MGW, so it would be a no for me at this point.

We are but at the same time we have to be mindful of the fact someone will come in for MGW and in footballing terms that's never too far away. When that day comes you'd hope to have someone ready to slot straight in. Scott wouldn't count in the 25 man squad. It's forward thinking.
