Striker. 8 signings? yep. ;) Seriously, Silva has been a big miss. He was really getting to grips with the Championship. Bit of hustle. Bit of quality. I'd happily swamp Car for him right now. Even with Garner in. I don't think the CM area is finished. Nor the more advanced ACM role. And we could do with another powerful winger. Lolley has looked out of it so far. SA. RE: Budget - Speculate To Accumulate? - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 24-08-2021 Can we stay on topic please... RE: Budget - Speculate To Accumulate? - Salvatore Matrecano - 24-08-2021 We want £10M for Brennan, assume Brentford have offered much lower. Trouble is they know we are up shit creek and need to sell to buy. They sit there with their low offer and wait patiently for us to crack. Exactly they hold the cards, unless another club shows interest in him, I'd be tempted to put it out there that we could well listen to offers for Mighten, we really are in a mess RE: Budget - Speculate To Accumulate? - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 24-08-2021 Things can change very quickly though MadForIt. If we get 3 or 4 players over the line and win a match the picture can soon start to look very different. The key word is IF. Fingers crossed. RE: Budget - Speculate To Accumulate? - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 24-08-2021 Just looked at the poll result. 73% saying that we should sell player's to improve the squad. RE: Budget - Speculate To Accumulate? - wassy04 - 24-08-2021 As long as its not just one for one though. I wouldn't be keen on selling Johnson for 6m say just to spend 2m on a replacement. RE: Budget - Speculate To Accumulate? - Strawberry Avenger - 24-08-2021 We haven't maxed out our loan limit yet? Saving money for the 'quality' signings and a class striker. I remember when Forest used to go out and get Collymore in the 2nd division for a couple of million. Or a Brian Roy to give us a 'touch' of class. 73%. We can only sell if we get the value we want. We can't have the likes of Brentford taking the pish. Sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate. The time to do that was in the January window under Sabri. But we stuffed it up. We can still push for mid-table and beyond if we just get LB and striker etc filled with transformative quality. We've sold Appiah and Cash for large sums of money. It seems that the supposed Worrall deal would have given the club more breathing room. We've put off getting a striker for far too long. I hope we don't have to sell under duress to keep Forest in this division. SA. Poor acquisitions put pay to that, the decision making process by the powers that be within the club are more than questionable and we have paid the price for people's mistakes and for the club being run badly, lessons definitely haven't been learnt. I said identifying ‘realistic’ targets- ie in line with our budget, whatever that is, which presumably will have been calculated agreed and signed off at the summer meeting in Greece. That budget may indeed have included or relied on the sale of worral or Brennan. However we don’t have to get those funds in before we make purchases; we could still buy this summer if we had the backing with subsequent sales in January. So we are back to a funding or competence question aren’t we? In reply: You implied no money was a lie, Randall never said we had money, just simply that we wouldn't fail FFP. You are right though in that we could spend now and sell in Jan to avoid failing FFP, bit risky but that is a fair point. I wouldn't call that being lied to though, quite a big accusation. Also, perhaps one that needs to wait till after the window closes? RE: Budget - Speculate To Accumulate? - Paplane - 25-08-2021 I'm booking a slot in my diary for next Wednesday morning. It's going to be quite a morning on our lovely forum. |
