RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Joe Baker Legend - 03-02-2021 Let's Milk it....... Coventry Fans after Match Inquest...... The size of Freeman for them, surely there's two players under that shirt I really feel for the lads. They’ve worked their bollocks off but two shit pieces of defending have ultimately cost us. We didn’t deserve to lose that We deserved something from that performance. Again we handed them 2 goals on a plate, only surprise is one wasn’t again a penalty. The 2nd half was the best we have probably played all season. If we had a couple of reasonable strikers with half an idea we would have won the game easily with all the quality balls into the box. Unfortunately we had Biamou and Baka for the most of it. Football’s a cruel game, it’s the hope that kills you Awful night. Hope this isn’t season defining. Certainly feels like it, they have been completely gifted 6 points How have we fucking lost twice to these, unbelievable Duck off!!!!! Forest were shit. Terrible result but second half we were excellent We now have to pick up points against teams that are a lot better than us because we’ve given away soft as shit goals and offered very little against some of the worst teams in the league. Forest will stay up comfortably Before the Samaritans crew start, we deserved at least a point out of that, just really missing that bit of quality in the final 3rd. Fuck Forest. They are fucking shit. We will finish above them this season. I don’t think we were very good. Forest showed they could sit back and defend a lead. We didn’t have any clear opportunities despite controlling the play and putting crosses in because our strikers are diabolical. Typical Hughton team don’t do a lot apart from defend Absolutely battered them again, jammy bastards. Dacosta man of the match. Let’s make amends against Watford. That’s the most pissed iff I have been after any game this year, cost ourselves there. A big difference is though they brought on Murray and had Taylor in the bench and we brought on Bakayoko and had nothing left. No idea how we've not won that. If Walker and Godden ain’t back soon we are on real Trouble If we’d have beaten Forest twice instead of losing to them we’d be 12th and they’d be 23rd. It’s tight as fuck at the bottom and not putting games away is going to catch up with us soon. Particularly with our run now. From Forest supporting mate: “Two lucky wins over you this season. We need it” Think their keeper done very well. He looks massive makes goal look tiny. He was probably their player that had the most possession he held it for half a minute every time, goalkeepers wasting time and that blatant obstruction or shielding the ball out of play that defenders do from the edge of the box are the things that get right on my nerves. Have we ever lost a game before where the opposition had more goals than shots on target? Probably have tbf. Fucking frustrating though. They scored 4 goals from 5 shots on target over the two games. They need reminding that Robin Hood steals from the rich not the poor Walker and Godden up front and we win that 5-2 today. just had a look at the Watford message board, makes this place sound cheerful. They aren't confident. Let's hope they're as bad as they think. Has any other team managed to lose 2-1 when the opposition have only had 1 shot on target? Could only happen to us! You have to laugh really, don’t you? Somebody? Anybody else laughing with me? Yes. Half of Nottingham Our club should just announce that it has declared itself a Nottingham Forest charity having donated them 6 points this season Don't know what game some people were watching tbh, it was hardly a lucky break from Forest, they had a game plan and stuck to it and it worked. Got their lead early in the second half having threatened to do so from the moment they equalised and then were happy to sit on their advantage. Had clearly done their homework on us and knew we were more dangerous down the middle via O'Hare and Hamer so packed the box and forced us out wide. Admittedly some of DaCosta's crosses threatened them a bit more than they were likely expecting, but that was always their games plan. It's easy to look at the stats or just watch the last half an hour and say we dominated but it's always going to look that way when one team parks the bus after going ahead and in reality we only really created two meaningful chances in the second half, the Hamer shot which the keeper did well with and the Ostigard header. It's always a lucky break when the ball goes in off a defender like that. Hardly what they'd planned to do. One shot on target all game tonight, 97th minute penalty gift at their place, it's outrageous they've won both games. I thought we were better in the away game than we were tonight tbh. Like I said they completely surrendered possession as soon as they went 2-1. From our first goal until their second they were the better side and deserved to be ahead. RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Strawberry Avenger - 03-02-2021 "The scream alone was worth it." Batman. SA. RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Username - 04-02-2021 If I were them I would have been fuming at their refusal to put the ball into the box from set pieces late on. Time and time again we gave away daft free kicks and they went short. Most teams have generally wanted to lump it long and pressure Samba, Christie and Figs. RE: Opposition Fans Comments - optimistic_red - 04-02-2021 "They need reminding that Robin Hood steals from the rich not the poor" :) :) :) RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 04-02-2021 (04-02-2021, 12:14 AM)Username Wrote: If I were them I would have been fuming at their refusal to put the ball into the box from set pieces late on. That is probably the reason why we kept doing it. Perhaps it wasn't so daft if we knew they would play it short. RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Joe Baker Legend - 06-02-2021 Wycombe Fans Pre Match comments..... Might be unfair but seems that half the Gasroom are or were based in and around Nottingham We have Robin Hood, Friar Tuck and the Sheriff of Nottingham, but I am not sure if we have a Maid Marian! Once they closed the pits, Players fag factory, Raleigh bikes and the lace industry we had to go somewhere. Got work links up that way, special ties with their history and the previous games anyway. The clips of the AP opening game are gold and we were 4divisions and a million miles away from them then. Shame we couldn't get to either game but good to see us alongside them. As someone said on the Facebook group they may have 2 European Cups but we have 2 FA Trophies I like the logo. Some potential for confusion though - it would be clearer which Forest it was if they put 'Notts' in there too. Someone's on the grammar police wind up early. Maybe we should get stars for the wins, Anglo Italian and San An cup wins.Forest means Redbridge to most Wycombe fans Recovery to start today - it has to! Although we've been saying that for a while! The Forest badge was the coat of arms of The City of Nottingham until 1974. Then Forest ran a competition for a new badge, I think with Trent Poly design department and the local paper. This design won. Looks awful on this blue background and I never liked it. Note the lower case ‘e’ while the other letters are capitals. And the weird ‘R’. Two stars added in more recent years for the European Cups. To be honest I just want to come away from watching us today and not wanting to drink a whole bottle of Bushmills. Or as I can only watch the first half, half a bottle. I really just want to see us play some football. Too optimistic? The badge is not correct either - a single tree does not a Forest make. Funny how hope springs eternal with us fans. Midweek was dreadful, and pretty much only the professionally optimistic still think we have a chance of staying up. But roll on today, and seeing there's only 3 games midweek, we could quickly put a little run together and give ourselves a chance. Hopefully this hasn't worn off by 3.05 I’d quite like to see Kashkett back in the team today. Muskwe has done OK but I’m not sure he justifies taking the spot ahead of Kashkett, who had been causing problems when he played. He’d surely be a good accompaniment alongside Ikpeazu. You would imagine the back 5 pick themselves before Stewart is back up and running, Thompson-Oforborh should be a given, and Uche and Muskwe surely start. So it's a case of who comes in for Bloomfield, and whether Fred stays in there. I miss being furious about Bayo being in the States. RE: Opposition Fans Comments - PsychoStanleyStone - 06-02-2021 how dare they sledge our badge? have you seen the Wycombe badge? Throttled goose having a golden poo? RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Tricky - 06-02-2021 (06-02-2021, 03:41 PM)PsychoStanleyStone Wrote: how dare they sledge our badge? :D :D :D RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Joe Baker Legend - 06-02-2021 Wycombe Fans Match Comments 1st Half.... Zero expectations for today. They eased to victory at their place and have improved and strengthened since under a top manager. A point a good result. Big picture a point is not what we need. Still, we are playing Nottingham Forest in the league so should celebrate that I guess Good to see Horgan and Wheeler back. Really surprised to see Blooms starting after Tuesday. I'm assuming a change of shape as well as a change of personnel. I'm struggling to make that work as a 4-3-3. I'm interested to see Forest, i thought they'd shoot up the league after we played them last time, but that hasn't happened. We're going to chop those trees down and make chairs out of them. I’ve got a really bad feeling about this one. Oh joy...0-1 Looked offside to me. Why is Knight leaving that? Dreadful goal to concede so early on. So...must win on Tuesday? Too soon? Everything about that was awful. "Under Chris Hughton, Forest are yet to lose from a winning position, and yet to concede an equalising goal away from home." Nice. It will be a 2nd gear win for Forest today. Sad to say it but we regularly miss half chances and regularly make mistakes at the back. Someone explain Horgan to me. Massive ability. So capable. Looks so willing. So often invisible. Is it the formation? I’m not sure if we’re really on top or if Forest have decided they’ve done enough to win. They won’t be too concerned with how things are going Can you be offside if you make contact with the defender as the ball is in the air? Apparently. Shame, that was a great header If we can level we can win. My immediate thought was Uche did look to be beyond the defender so wasn't surprised to see the flag. Why does it take us conceding a cheap, poorly defended goal to try and attack teams? Not playing badly here. Still hope. Cracking half. Don’t deserve to be down. Would like to see McCleary come on, not holding out any hope it'll happen soon. Not a bad half of football from us, but some unfortunate familiarities from so many of our games this season: Cheap, poorly defended goal.Playing well but not creating many clear cut chances or taking half chances. When Forest do fancy attacking, they're breaking through our midfield with relative ease. Already a much better performance than Tuesday, but we need to attack throughout this second half. A 2 or 3-0 defeat being beaten late on the counter attack would do exactly the same for us as a valiant 1-0 defeat. Half time stats accurate as ever ‘0 offsides’ A lot better than Tuesday, but Forest seem comfortable enough. But at least them sitting back has allowed us to grow in confidence a bit. Do need to find a way to play to Horgan’s strengths as he does look like he has the capability to unpick defences. We definitely miss JJs delivery for set pieces. Forest good at doing fouls every time we get in there half, ref needs to get his card out. “Doing fouls”. Love that. Unfortunately for all Ainsworths obvious great points an over reliance on/loyalty towards ageing players and slowness with subs I think most people would admit are weaknesses at times. Today isn't awful but we need to go for it and Forest obviously have another gear. RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Joe Baker Legend - 06-02-2021 Wycombe Fans Comments 2nd Half..... Fooking penalty Our boys can't deal with Murray Arghhhh thought he was gonna save one for once. FFS yet another silly mistake and failure of the defence to communicate to each other Rocky gets a hand to it! Baby steps. Play well for 5 minutes, don't score, give away a goal. Rinse and repeat. Game over, stupid foul when there was 2 defenders on him A game to forget for Knight I’m afraid Relegated by March chaps, sorry to say. It was Grimmer who pulled him back I thought I struggle to see why anyone can watch us win 3 in 26 and think we have hope of winning 10 in 20. I like this ref. Always better to explain things than wave your cards around I’d be very surprised indeed if McCleary has a two year contract! I understand the suggestion of playing both. Switch Horgan to his favoured left perhaps. We need to win 4 games to have any chance of even moving up to 23rd. one word - Diabolical It’s just about trying to reel in that Rotherham record low points tally now and start thinking about next season. For interest is there anybody left that thinks we will stay up If there are then I have some magic beans to sell them. HOLY SHIT BLOOMS IS BEING SUBBED Bloody norma, looked like the ref was going to give a pen when Uche went down there, then just played advantage or something. Thought that. Don't know how a penalty on him or Knight or a free-kick in the phase after on Wheeler or Uche, wasn't given. i am sorry to say that we look well out of our depth....we have some really good players however do not feel that we look like scoring, playing Bloomfield is just a mistake, Uche, has to be flanked by McCleary and Horgan Simply the old adage of "hope springs eternal" pal. Viewing each day with a fresh optimism, and then reality kicking in. I fear the Oxford fans who said we'd win 5 games were surprisingly spot on. For what it's worth, the fact I have seen us as down for a while has not dimmed my love for this team, or stopped me tuning in for each game in the hope of a win. It would just take the greatest of great escapes from here, and I am not seeing where the next win is coming from, let alone ten! It's actually kind of nice to have half a season with no pressure, and little chance of changing our position. Gaetan Bong would be a good name for a pub. We could play for a week and never score they are toying with us ,but at least we are playing a bit of football Ok, can we suspend the season, and just go again next year? 3 bits of shocking defending 3 goals to Forest what the fuck has happened to our defence? I don't think we'll get 23 points. this is now embarrassing - GA needs to look his self in the mirror as tactically this is inept....he has been an amazing manager for us but it getting found at at this level..forest have hardly scored this season and have 5 against us this seaon....the championship has been a great ride, we will have a real go in league 1 next season ...hopefully in time we will a better go next time we make this level I actually agree with you Shev. We can now look forward to winning a few games next season and actually watching them at Adams Park. That double substitution is my cue to leave. We’re definitely not going to score now. See you all Tuesday. I always assumed it would be a difficult battle to stay up and we would need a lot of luck against the 'big' teams but I will stay optimistic as long as I can. Why we don't play the players who have scored goals this season as a starting point I fail to understand. I'm not sure what GA is saving the likes of Mehmeti and Mcleary for. This season feels like playing the Carabao cup every single week. Which most seasons was a narrow defeat, but occasionally a tonking. I fear some of us ancients are destined never to attend a Championship match at Adams Park. A very sad day. On another lighter note, the guy stood next to Hughton, with his mask round his chin. What's the point of that?! This is the first game I’ve stopped watching before the end. I wouldn’t swap the Wembley memories for anything, but I fear for the next few months. think this will be the last time that i will be watching us on Ifollow....sad state to expect us to lost and for us NOT to score....might watch paint drying from now on...its more entertaining. Is it just me or does it sort of look like the players themselves dont believe any more ? At 3-0 down of course! But they've been giving all they have most games so you can't blame them. And just like that, my last ounce of my blue tinted optimistic side drained away... Bugger.... That's that for us this season I think. At least we have strong foundations for life back in league 1. We are going down without a fight Forest are a lot better than their league position, in fairness. Revitalised under Hughton. I'm more disappointed by the likes of Birmingham midweek and a few other draws that we needed to win. Some premier league veterans and some experienced championship players in the Forest team so under normal circumstances the result is not a surprise. Having to beat teams like that at this stage of the season is just a quest too far... Today is the day, I stop believing we can stay up. Its time to stop this hoof ball and start trying to play some football . We have the players to play pass and move. I'd rather lose every week playing passing football, then this kick and rush rubbish we are playing now . If we don't change our style we will be back in league 2 in a couple of seasons. With our position points wise and the fact a lot of the bigger clubs down here with us (like Forest) will have significantly strengthened/changed their manager since we last played them...and probably lost. I think February might be a decisive month...but that is merely my opinion. Other opinions are available. That was a really depressing watch. Getting beaten by quality play you can accept but not mistakes every game, first and second goals were dreadful mistakes by Knight, just far too soft. I think Forest sat back at 1-0 and then Hughton got into them at halftime and they stepped up again but yes defensive mistakes cost us. Worrall is a great defender so I was not surprised Uche did not get that much out of them. Weneeded a top top performance today. I still think Thompson would have been a faster better player in the Bloomfield role though but hindsight is a wonderful thing. To be honest Forest played on cruise control and they were lucky to be gifted two goals. First was very well taken by a 37 year old Glenn Murray and the second was a needless penalty. I thought we recovered well from the first goal and were building back into the game up to half time but the second goal from the penalty killed it off. Defensive mistakes for both of the first two goals. Oh and isn't Samba a great keeper! Forest looked a decent side again today for me. Their keeper never looks in any danger and they had either quality or nouse at key moments. For all Uche’s effort Forest had a quality finisher in Murray who took his chance and won a penalty out of nothing. I never felt we were in the game after that penalty which seems to be a common theme. We run out of steam so often now. I hope it’s due to lack of training recently but fear it might just be due to us being knackered. Knight’s form deteriorated so much in recent matches. Never having the same partner might be a factor but he’s surely due a break with Stewart close to a return. Can’t really complain about the result and to be honest I’m not too upset by the performance. We are just not quite good enough at the moment against side’s with more quality and experience at this level. If Forest are a side we should be beating then I’m not sure how we do it as we are currently. Being a sustainable Championship side is not a six month project in these no fans RE: Opposition Fans Comments - PsychoStanleyStone - 06-02-2021 Thanks Joe, great read, full respect for Wycombe, i wonder if Martin O'Neill fancies a final swan song with them, this is really based on there badge to be honest, is it a swan? Is it pooing hand cuffs? They are decent fans, bit of a soft spot for them, from what i remember they gave it a good go at the City Ground and there game plan was working well 1st half. |
