If we beat Cardiff reserves on Saturday, what will the prize be, a trip to Covid ridden London to be thrashed again by Chelsea or Arsenal U23's, a trip up to Chorley to get clogged to death or another trek up to Preston to play a game which both teams actually want to lose?

I know what you mean and it's the modern thinking  but we didn't win FA Cup in 88 but Birmingham away and Arsenal away are fantastic memories. In 89 ManU away was great but we didnt win the competition. West Ham at Villa Park as well in 91. The magic of the FA Cup is about the memories not just lifting the trophy. I know I may be a dinosaur but bare with me on my thinking this season:-

In the modern era, with the occasional exception, the same 3 or 4 teams clean up the trophies and promotion has been missed for years even though we have bombed out of the cups.

We are not going to get promoted this year either, so personally a memorable Cup run and staying up would do me. Also, the training ground will only achieve so much. Playing together is what gets teams gelling together, so with another week to prepare for Milwall why not go strong? Best XI in CHs view to keep building understanding and partnerships. Taylor and Grabban from start maybe?

In the process we might just create a few more memories?

Team just announced and CH obviously sees it differently.

I cant believe that we have got SEVEN defenders on the bench for a one legged home cup game!!!!!

I cant believe he hasn't picked Steve Wigley.......

I can as SW was not a particularly good player!

RE: Nottingham Forest - Cardiff City - Salvatore Matrecano - 09-01-2021

Good to see McKenna starting

Disappointed to see lack of U23s, would have been a good opportunity. 5 players over 30 in the starting line up, shows how many pensioners we have clogging up the squad. Surprised to see Lolley starting, thought his shin splints needed managing.

Beautiful finish from Taylor and a perfect assist from Bong. Shows what I know...

the big positive for me is to involve as many players in the collective group as possible

but also if resting players, rest them, as in give them the day off and tell them to have a lie in

though that isn't as completely the case as in maybe Samba and Christie deserve a rest

but yes, we seem a bit light with front options but if chasing the game it doesn't have to be about strikers, i'm sure given licence and make an impression Sow and Yates and others could turn the game

Bong, still Bong, looks up, Bong, picks out Taylor .... GOAL!!!!!

McKenna and Worralll. :)

Well done to Lyle for the goal and Bong for the assist.

Cardiff on a makeshift defence..? Got to test them.

Derby struggling against a physical side.

SA.
