Yes think Cooper has shown that now, Horvarth is in until we lose at very least. Good game again yesterday couple of good saves and cleared his lines well, a good example first half of a confident powerful punch under pressure he did really well.
Sorry to bang on though, its just the ball at his feet. The problem I think is He is just so left footed. He seems to receive the ball on his right foot but then transfers to his left to clear the ball by which time the opponent is nearly on top of him. It’s happened every game including yesterday. Its the only problem but it is a significant one.

I noticed that too Sal, which was the only slight blemish on an otherwise excellent performance again from the Yank.
I think we can consider ourselves lucky to have 2 really good keepers in our squad for a change for us to have a debate about which one deserves the shirt!

I would be very interested to know how Samba is taking his demotion. Is he sorting his attitude and working harder in training which Cooper will of course expect. Or is he being mardy and sulking around. If its the first then we will have an even better keeper, if its the second expect him to leave in the summer.

If it is reported that Horvath has found broken glass and drawing pins in his boots and gloves, we will know Samba hasn't taken it too well!

Some won't like this and I apologise but it's my opinion.
I wouldn't be against selling Samba in the summer especially if it helped to keep one or two others at the club.

I agree Sniff. We have Smudge as a back up keeper. It makes sense TBH

Ive always thought he's a player the club might sell, or receive a decent offer for. He's perfectly capable of being a prem no2 somewhere and we might get 3 or 4 mill for him, or rather we might have before he punched someone in the head.

He`s been a decent for us largely and pulled off a lot of great saves over the years and his distribution is still better then Horvath. For me it all depends how much he is willing to fight for his place or not as he has certainly lost it now and rightly so.

In some areas I see an issue but in others I see better quality. Horvarth looks so uncomfortable with the ball at his feet with an opposition player closing him down, which often forces an error in his outlet, but he is quicker releasing the ball out to feet than Samba in a lot of instances. I think its 6 of one and half a dozen of the other really.
Both have weaknesses, both have strengths

Not having a go at you Sniff but I think you are watching on TV. When you are watching Horvarth live I promise you he scares the bejesus out of me every time he goes to kick the ball. Its not the accuracy of his distribution more the control of the ball he has.
Its a shame because the rest of his game is excellent. Some saves have been absolutely world class and his handling generally and command of the area improving game on game you can see the confidence building, distribution by throwing out is also very good a few great examples just on Sunday.
He can be our No1 keeper but that kicking remains a weakness.
Finally yes wouldnt surprise me at all if Samba moves on, think he will only have a year left on his contract anyway? We need a better No2 than Smith though for sure.

I dont see why thats controversial and I'd suggest that its more than likely, especially if you take a step back and look at the bigger picture.
And not forgetting that Smith has signed a new contract.
Its clear Samba's distribution is way better than Horvarth, but the American is much better dealing with crosses into the box.
Cooper wants a keeper to be able to play out from the back, but we've struggled against balls into the box for years now. Smith Jutiewitz etc etc
Which one is more important? I think that depends on which league we are in next season.
At the end of the day, I expect both will leave for profits over the next two summers. Both have saleable attributes, but both have a mistake in them.
I would be very surprised if the medium term recruitment policy wasn't to identify (or nurture) a new keeper with both skillsets in his game.
