It was avoiding relegation. And if he hadn't treated it as an extended pre-season, Forest were going down. I think you're right there. In the absence of a pre-season last year. (Add that to our 'half a pre-season this year...) Hughton is a top manager. But he needs top Championship players. How many top Championship players do we have in our team right now? SA. This is pretty much my view too. I wanted Carvalhal for his stupidly attacking tactics. I also think it's easier to defend a manager that's playing free flowing football. (Although I'm sure when we were conceding 3 glad a game the same fans would be demanding defensive stability ala when Warbs was manager) CH is frustrating with his changes at times, at last season with his overuse of Figs and lack of Mighten. However, its only two games into the season. Seasons are long, changing managers never works. Also, we only have half a team right now. Everyone moaning about Yates and Colback, who else is he picking? Uwantlee was moaning about Johnson playing ffs! We have no decent strikers, we have no left back, we have no Worrall or Soh. As much as I'd like to see Carv, he's not gonna suddenly transform us. If you have to blame someone, blame the people that put this lack of a squad together. Or just wait till we get the squad sorted after the window. Frustrating. I think that's how I feel. I get why fans are. But for me, it's off the field catching up with their ambition. Meanwhile, Hughton has had two outfield signings in under one year and both of those are loans? I think it's more frustrating for Hughton than it is for fans. He's on the hook. Two interviews now, in a row saying? 'We need to recruit.' He took over at the wrong time last year. The summer recruitment had been done. And it was specularly random. Props for the Mckenna signing. And this Summer? 2 (though decent) outfield players. And gaps all over to be filled 'anon.' Wingers. LBs. RBs. CHs. STRIKERS!!! Ball players. I count six and I'm just a football lay man. Meanwhile, teams will take advantage of the time it's taking to bring those signings in. The same people were saying the same things about Warburton. ('Boring. Tippy Tappy. His tactics were all wrong. He should do it like this. His subs are wrong. I never wanted him. I don't like his cat... He's too positive. He only plays one way. Defensively crap.' etc.). And he actually brought in a good few of his own players. People moan when the lose. They moan when they win if they have a dislike for a manager or a player. Billy Davies? 'I hate the s****. (Forest were top 4 at the time...and rocking it with Lans and Gueddy.) How would any manager cope with 'half a team' right now? Perhaps Pep? Or Mourinio? Or Jesus Christ? (Perhaps the latter could raise Brian 'Lazerus' Clough to do the honours? Except it took 'God' 3 seasons to get out the 2nd Division and with Taylor's help.) I hear what you say about Figs. But who else does he pick? (Last year, he did use him lots. Took him out the team when Figs 'lost the plot' and then brought him back in. He tries to be a player's manager. But it's down to recruitment to bring in a CH that actually has his heart in a Forest shirt. Figs? To me. He wants to go home. Let him. He was thrown to the deck yesterday.) Like you say, who else can he pick? And in a good many positions that can be said of. 'Play the youth.' Well, he did with a rested Gabriel who was skinned for one of the goals. Much to learn, he has. No Des Lyttle. People wanted more attacking. We want Lolley back to his best. He was played. We had Zinc deployed (The one player that really seemed to be on a different plane of existence to the rest of the team). Car'. Johnson (see, the step up to Championship is not 'that' easy. He's disappeared in the 2nd half of both games?) SA. |
