Just had a bad day on Friday. I think his crossing's been good. Yep, I think so too (more to come). After a decent start under Hughton at Coventry he faded and imo was a passenger in a few of those early games but under Cooper he's come on leaps and bounds. I dont know what was going on behind the scenes under Hughton, but Brennan's improvement is yet another example of a players game improving overnight. Its astounding really. RE: Transfers In/Out January 2022 - Strawberry Avenger - 01-11-2021 He's a youth player. Just as Worrall was. The latter could blow hot and cold with mistakes before his steep learning curve at Rangers. It's part of the territory of young players. Brennan has pace. A shot. Assists. Courage. less attacking prowess. He's been close at times in recent games. He's going to have 'nearly' games. The consistency will come. He's brought much excitement to the front Forest line. Yes. 'Way more to come from him.' SA. Just had a bad day on Friday. I think his crossing's been good. Aye. Bags of potential. Let's hope for some more leaps and bounds vs Sheff Utd. Be good to have the Forest attacking line firing on all cylinders. Hopefully Steve can coach out these mistakes and self capitulations from the Forest defensive line. I've been disappointed with some of these 'soft gifts' we give to teams or we would have had more points on the board. The character and talent is there. Players like Brennan worry the opposition. SA. RE: Brennan Johnson - Shawoddyred - 01-11-2021 He also puts in the effort. He was shattered towards the end on Friday and couldn't use his pace anymore! RE: Brennan Johnson - Salvatore Matrecano - 01-11-2021 Nobody is doubting his effort, his pace, ability or potential. Just saying that his end product needs to be more consistent before we start crowing about having a £20M player on our hands. He does need to sign that contract though or I will be very twitchy through January. RE: Brennan Johnson - JollyLolly - 01-11-2021 Over many years supporting Forest we have seen our young talent sold on it's a fact of life, we always get over it and move to the next exciting kid on the block. If BJ goes good luck we move and hopefully get a good wad of cash to buy some talent further down the food chain! RE: Brennan Johnson - Paplane - 01-11-2021 I'm of the opinion now where we don't need an influx of new players at this present time, we need to let Cooper squeeze what he can out of this squad. And so on that basis, let's keep Brennan for a couple of years and see how he develops. For that to happen he needs to sign a contract. If he left now for say a Brentford or a Southampton in the prem, is that going to be better for him long term that sticking with us? I doubt it. He'd get some cash in his pocket but his development would be restricted and/or he'd just get farmed out to a championship club anyway. But surgical strikes of 'Zinc' quality at the back, middle and up front. (Some might say, a LB in addition...) In the meantime, how much Steve can rinse out of the current squad will tell him if he can coach the mistakes out of the back line or whether he has to bring in another CH or a certain time who can 'monster' crosses. The contract situation in January for Brennan will be interesting. SA. RE: Brennan Johnson - JollyLolly - 01-11-2021 Pap, It's not a SC or DM decision though it's Brennan and his dad who will decide his footballing fate! The problem is they will only sign with a release clause at around 8m. No chance are we going to to that as we will get offers of 12m in Jan. RE: Brennan Johnson - Jon Moss - 02-11-2021 So if he doesn't sign a new contract and we want to get the best price possible then we need to sell him in January by the looks of it. |
