It is no coincidence we have scored a lot more goals since Danilo has come back in to the team. I'm going to enjoy every minute of him because if he carries on producing the performances he is he will not be here long.

I wish there was some way of shoe horning Scarpa in there too cos the creativity from the 3 of them would be scary. Unfortunately I think the team would have to suffer as a whole to do that

I think Scarpa (when fit) would be the backup for MGW who tbf to him as played pretty much every game this year along with Jonno, the fitness of youth!

Yeah I agree, it's a shame. I suppose the only other way to do it would be a 4-2-3-1 with Scarpa, MGW & Jonno in the 3 but that would be very lightweight up top & leave a 2 man midfield very exposed. It would also restrict Danilo's storming runs into the box which is a big NO!! Anyway it's not a this season issue & thankfully not my problem to solve lol

If there is one thing we've learned from this season, depth matters so I'm sure they'll all get plenty of game time when fit!

Some of those apparently signed by the owners have done well some haven’t.
Some apparently signed by Giraldi have done well some haven’t.
Some of those looked at by analytics as having great potential have done well some haven’t.
Some younger players have done well some haven’t.
Some experienced players have done well some haven’t.
Some who we accused of being here for a last payday have done well some haven’t.

Dont think there is anyone who can claim to be a winner.

At the risk of upsetting Tricky even further.

Of course Giraldi and Cooper were involved in all signings.

But player's get scouted before they are referred to the attention of Giraldi and Cooper although Giraldi of course is no longer at the club now.

I believe we have a good scouting network now in South America  and hopefully we can unearth a few more like Danilo.

Absolutely spot on

No risk of upsetting me with either of these posts as they are balanced and not 'one side or the other'.

What pissed me off more than anything earlier on was the fact that this is a thread about our latest, seemingly, hot prospect for the future. I was looking forward to reading more comments about the player himself, not the brownie points scoring about who was responsible for his signing and who wasn't. That is off topic is it not?

No Sniff, I havent lost my sense of humour and I havent become 'Mr Serious' all of a sudden. Whilst I do prefer to make humourous posts, that doesnt mean I am not allowed to make a serious post or express my opinion from time to time.

Anyway, thats the last I will comment on this matter as it is  :off:

RE: Danilo dos Santos de Oliveira - Salvatore Matrecano - 10-05-2023

Back to Mr Danilo. Our first genuine box to box midfielder since Chris Cohen? Think he has a much higher ceiling than Chris to be fair. Lets hope he fairs far far better with injuries too.

Great post Wrexham Red. Everything you say about that formation is true. While it would be an all out attacking 3 and would allow Scarpa to play in his natural position out wide, it would definitely leave us vulnerable in midfield and restrict Danilo's abilities to maraud forward which has been so nice to see. As you say, that's an issue for next season.

RE: Danilo dos Santos de Oliveira - Paplane - 10-05-2023

Danillo isn't a gem thats been unearthed by us. He's been on the radar of a few big European clubs (Arsenal i believe) but interest faded when his performances fell away a little. All we've done is take a gamble, paid up the cash and given him his chance. Im so glad we did because the guy looks a modern day talent equivalent of Roy Keane if anyone on here is old enough to remember how impressive he was in his debut season.
