That's now changed, whilst some people may be upset about the lack of transfers, I'm far happier that we're taking our time getting in players who are deemed to be the right fit at the right price.
It's still very early days yet, I don't expect things to be perfect, but I think if the next 5 or so days go our way and Dane is given time & backing we'll build a proper foundation which will see us thrive further down the line.
We really could just be a few weeks away from a new attacking manager with a few Zinc-level signings, and looking forward again.
Quite so. Positive stuff. I don't mind the short term pain of losing 4 matches if it's for a brighter future. Transitions aren't easy. They're painful. That's the point of growth. It hurts.
Like you say, Alf. This has been coming for a while and we've been storing up trouble, kicking the can down the road and it sounds like we've ripped off the plaster. It means we're finally getting to the root cause of the club's malaise. Recruitment. It will will be a stronger foundation for the future. This season was always going to be a transition season after flirting with relegation last season.
And Hughton will be like a new manager when we get the other 'Zinc-level' signings in. We might be able to look forward up the pitch! :D
