Derby team review
Derby are an aggressive team designed to disrupt and harass teams in the middle third of the pitch with a late press system that forces play away from the wide areas and into the central area in which they hold a numeric advantage. Derby play the 4-5-1 formation and relay on the striker to hold onto the ball in order to allow runners from central positions to move out wide.
Derby’s passing style is short and these are mostly situated within their own half before trying through balls up to the forward to hold and release the midfield runners. Most of Derby attacks will come centrally or via the left hand side.
When it comes to shooting or chance creation, it is a high percentage that the final shot will be situated in 18-yard box or outside box from a central area of a cut in from the left into a central area. Derby’s create to goal ratio is poor as they have only scored 3 league goals yet have a high creation and big chance creation rate per game however the end touch is a 78% change of being outside the box. However this high number is due to the lack of bodies if any that are within the 6 yard box during the attack and the ball being cleared, thus the last touch from a Player is the throughball or cross outside the box.
A worthy talking point on Derby Strength is set plays and the ability to shoot on target from direct free kicks.
As Derby are an aggressive team they do give away direct free kicks often in dangerous places and the fact they have been struggling to win Aerial duels as well as marking issues could be an area Forest could exploit.
Even if Derby take the lead they struggle to hold on so this should be some encouragement to the team if we find ourselves behind.
Derby’s biggest weakness so far is the failing of the central press. Teams that have managed to work the ball away from the central press to wide areas have managed to 70% of the time produce a meaningful attack. Derby’s fullbacks do not hold a good win ratio against 1 v 1 situations and are left exposes during the press.

Derby win is 45% likely
Draw is 32% likely
Forest Win 23% Likely
