RE: The Premier League 2025/26 - Mcforest - 16-08-2025 I'm glad I'm not the manager. Potentially two DR who should / want to be first choice fighting it out for one spot. Neither will be happy if dropped. RE: The Premier League 2025/26 - BadDog - 16-08-2025 Remember Aina going to AFCON so he won't be here for a while and he tends to get knocks also. RE: The Premier League 2025/26 - Sausage Roll - 18-08-2025 I didn't realise the rules had changed regarding players interfering with defensive walls at free kicks. That would've denied us an FA Cup Final and League Cup Semi-Final goal if it'd been in place at the time! That would've denied us an FA Cup Final and League Cup Semi-Final goal if it'd been in place at the time! It's been around a couple of years(?) now. I'm amazed there's such a hoo-ha about it. If I know about it then certainly a football club and players should. IIRC it was brought in just to prevent those kind of wall pushing moves you've described. Of course, I heard a Palace fan on the radio last night whinging that he's fed up dealing with matters around 'the letter of the law'. Maybe Parish didn't get this e-mail too. RE: The Premier League 2025/26 - Sausage Roll - 18-08-2025 Was brought in 2019/20 I think they said on Sky. Maybe with all the hoohah around COVID it was missed. In response to the rule change, attacking teams positioned their own wall 1m in front of the defensive wall. Not sure it happens much now. Not that I've noticed anyway. RE: The Premier League 2025/26 - stirred - 18-08-2025 I’m always amazed that players don’t know the rules of the game. Actually I’m not, but they should be known and understood in any well-run organization with serious professionals. Even if you can’t rely on players to read the rule book of their own back, if I was a club I would give them sessions on any new rules for the season, and directives given to refs. And refresher sessions of rules, like this one. This is what happens in the corporate world from my experience on rules and regulations. RE: The Premier League 2025/26 - Fumanchew - 18-08-2025 I’m sure I read only captains could approach and interact with the ref, yet, even in our game players tended to swarm and surround so dunno RE: The Premier League 2025/26 - wassy04 - 18-08-2025 (18-08-2025, 11:01 AM)Paplane Wrote:(18-08-2025, 10:57 AM)Sausage Roll Wrote: Was brought in 2019/20 I think they said on Sky. Maybe with all the hoohah around COVID it was missed. There's a good example of it floating around twitter where Chelsea scored one last year. Apparently VAR wasn't allowed to intervene as technically the foul happened before the ball was kicked. Seems to have conveniently changed that interpretation this year.... Dispersed fairly quickly and didnt surround him so maybe he gave a warning but I was wondering if he would wave a yellow. Actually though the ref was decent yesterday, not his fault about VAR not having a clue what its doing. |
