No we will not get the playoffs. Villa have taken the spot we were eyeing and are a far better team, my money is on them to go up. Bristol City have come back into form and I can see Boro will have to turn it round.
We just aren’t good enough sadly. I’m not negative, just a realist.

This weekend could see the end of our play off chances as not only do we have to win but we need some results to go in our favour if we are to put pressure on those above us. To be honest we have had chance after chance this season to move up into the spots but each time we have played a game we should have won it resulted in either a loss or draw. The fact we have not been able to put a run together at any stage during the season shows actually how poor the league has been this year for us to still be there.
From our remaining games, we need a points per game ratio of 2.2. 6 wins out of 7 and with some very tough games to play including sheff utd and weds.
But even though we will prob not make the play off's lets just remember the huge progress which has been made already this season.

Whatever happens now it is great to be involved at the top end again and going into the last hanful of games still having a chance of reaching the play offs.

A lot of things will happen before the end of the season. Aston Villa and Bristol City who currently holds 5th and 6th places will play each other. Aston Villa will in addtion play both Leeds and Norwich as well as in form Sheff W. Bristol City will also play Sheff W in addition to Derby and Hull who is still in the race. Other than that it looks like Derby and Middlesbrough have the easiest run in of the teams in contention for the last two play off places. Forest are going to play Sheff W, Middlesbrough and Sheff U so that’s not too bad but if they play like they did against Swansea I believe they will not be able to accumulate enough points to get into 6th place. Form wise we look good with 10 points in the last 6. Middelsbrough last with 1 point followed by Bristol City and Derby with 8 points. I don’t believe it is as straight forward as somebody might think.

Whatever happens now it is great to be involved at the top end again and going into the last hanful of games still having a chance of reaching the play offs.
Before the season started, I'd have settled for top 8.
We've gone from the the 'top' of the bottom 8.
By-passed the middle 8 (by and large.)
And are 'bottom of the top 8' pretty much. Or we're 3 points off the play offs.
We have taken massive strides this season after being a club in constant turmoil dreaming of the glory days.
We are?
1. Better run off the field. It's night and day.
2. Dream ticket manager MoN/Roy. (They'll get us promoted whether by brute force if necessary.)
3. New Ground announced.
4. £25 million spend on the squad and far better at getting business done (regardless of the merits of how it was spent...)
5. From the bottom 8 to the top 8.
6. Full house attendances successively.
7. Season ticket records.
8. Far better media presence and branding.
We could only dream of those things during the last 20 years. Nothing ever felt stable or 'well run' bar the Academy.

It was nice to have a flirt this season with the play offs but that is as good as it is going to get for now.
Time to start planning for 2019/20.
