100%, yes, it's a wonderful contradiction, in't it?

it's also the way that clubs like Brentford operate, you do your research, you check your stats, then you do your homework on the player & check that the man behind the stats is just as suitable as the stats themselves.

Recruitment should be a thorough job, especially when you see how much is being invested.

The stats are useless, without knowing the context & all about the player, but conversely knowing the context & all about the player is useless if you ignore the actual stats, you need both elements, & I've always said that, but both elements need to be used because a great player, with the wrong attributes will be useless to you, just as a useless player with all the right attribute will be also.

A 7 with all the right attributes? Perfect

A 7 with the wrong attributes? Good player but no good to us in the team ethos

A 6.5 with the right attributes? The right person, but not good enough for the team as a player

A 6.5 with the wrong attributes? Totally useless to us.

You've sold it to me.  Have you passed this onto Forest's recruitment dept' for this Summer?

Mind you, I'm sure Chris and Gary are painfully aware of this following last Summer's debacle.

At least we finally got Mckenna.
