RE: Why Do Nottingham Forest Keep Failing? - Tricky - 01-11-2020 Slightly off topic, but did anyone else watch the documentary on ITV4 about Forests European Cup exploits? Well worth watching if you havent seen it. I would imagine it will be on the ITV hub. What does jump out of the programme is how fast Cloughies side would break out of defence into attack. None of this dilly dallying across the back four, just a direct run at the opposition with the ball, with everyone joining the attack at pace!!! Brilliant to watch again!! I take what you are saying but my point is if you take the weakest players from a promoted side and put them all together what have you got? Players who collectively dont have you at the top end of the league it would seem. Remember we tried it before with likes of Breckin, Holt (Gary from Norwich not Grant) and that right back from promoted Wigan team, and a manager with proven track record of promotion with West Brom. Obviously that ended in total disaster and I am not suggesting (yet) that this will go same way as Hughton is far superior to Megson. As for contracts, with no match day income we have taken on some pretty hefty loans and associated wages/fees. I just feel that the policy is flawed. If we had managed to nick Mitrovic or Cairney from Fulham then fair enough. Instead we have a full back that couldn't get a game and cost us a point on saturday, a midfielder who played along side Cairney sometimes and a winger whose stats highlighted by sky have been declining season on season. 7 goals/assists in 32 games last year I think it was and was on bench at latter end of season and playoffs. Hopefully Hughton can get him back on it with their history. Of course Lolley, Grabban and Colback have made huge contributions over the last few years and there is time for some of the others but we could put out a rejects XI vs the overseas XI no one has heard of in almost every position bar keeper. Its expensive madness and flawed which ever way we look at it. Tried it and off top of my head came up with this below. New keeper No RB Soh Figs Ribs Sow fred cafu No current LM No current no 10 (Carvalho technically ours though) Guerrero RE: Why Do Nottingham Forest Keep Failing? - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 02-11-2020 Reading through the thread and there is no easy answer to the question in the thread title is there. Lets be honest, we have tried everything and nothing has worked. It's all a mystery. So where do we go from here? New owners? New manager? A load of new players? Stick and carry on as we are? So frustrating. RE: Why Do Nottingham Forest Keep Failing? - Salvatore Matrecano - 02-11-2020 If it was my decision: Make Gary Brazil director of football for the first team. Bring in a manager known for developing young talent. Build from within, squad centred around the academy. Transfer policy no incoming players above 25years old (they are cheaper too) Stick with the plan 3 years minimum. It would annoy the teenagers on twitter that want instant gratification but I think most proper fans would buy into the ethos of developing our own players with our own identity. It would not be quick though and there would be probably some backward steps along the way. But I am sick of the overpaid crap I have watched for the last 21 seasons, I would prefer to watch a team I genuinely liked again at whatever level. RE: Why Do Nottingham Forest Keep Failing? - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 02-11-2020 I like it ^^ SM do you have 50M to buy the club :) RE: Why Do Nottingham Forest Keep Failing? - Tricky - 02-11-2020 (02-11-2020, 08:31 AM)Sniffer Dog Wrote: Reading through the thread and there is no easy answer to the question in the thread title is there. We haven't tried a Priest yet to exorcise the club, cos I am convinced we are cursed!! Is Eileen Drury still alive? :-/ RE: Why Do Nottingham Forest Keep Failing? - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 02-11-2020 (02-11-2020, 09:41 AM)Tricky Wrote:(02-11-2020, 08:31 AM)Sniffer Dog Wrote: Reading through the thread and there is no easy answer to the question in the thread title is there. Actually I am not sure that is entirely true Tricky. When a Greek opens any kind of new business it's customary to get a priest in . No joke. I am sure EM would have done it. Maybe EM needs to get a new priest then, cos the last one wasn't up to much ;) RE: Why Do Nottingham Forest Keep Failing? - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 02-11-2020 So finally we have found the problem. We need a new bloody priest in. Then it's PL here we come. RE: Why Do Nottingham Forest Keep Failing? - Salvatore Matrecano - 02-11-2020 Its no madder idea than some of the things we have done over the last 20 years.
