Another manager he admires and who he is close with is Michel, he is currently out of work.

Ranieri, I have already mentioned, could be an option.

Marinakis is also a huge admirer of Steven Gerrard, highly unlikely anything will happen with that one and most Forest fans would probably be against him.

Paul Cook at Wigan done a good job plus Chris Wilder at Sheffield United also (if we want to go down that route).

So, the big spending wasn't a quick fix. I didn't really expect it to be.

I still think we can be top 8 but a pattern is emerging. (Ten games should give an overview...but there are indications that somethings aren't quite right.)

Brilliant v WBA and Newcastle. But when teams press Forest buckle. It seems like our defence was too deep yesterday, the midfield too flat, too slow and too disconnected with the ACM/Wingers.

Not playing Bridcutt was, for me, a big mistake. Ironic. Because his absence showed Forest just what they were missing. He may not be Vuk' but he was Leeds Captain. Some managers may not fancy him. But I find him combative and has an eye for a progressive pass. If Colback holds, Bridcutt could press forwards. He did well in the ACM role v Bolton. I've mentioned this before, but against more established sides (and Forest aren't. They're beginning, yet again...because they hire and fire so often...there isn't the philosophy that you get at eg. Brentford. They also hired such mediocrity, historically, because of a lack of a plan that they are far behind Boro', Leeds and even behind Brentford on yesterday's performance... Forest had to get rid of a whole heap of players and replace an entire squad and they're still behind Boro' and Leeds) that Bridcutt should play ACM to put the boot into sides like Brentford. To rattle their cages. Can always bring on Car' when they have tired...and bring Watson off ...and put Liam into his spot. Brentford looked very brittle when pressed. But Forest only managed it for 15 minutes. The subs only replace the same plan that wasn't working. The problem is clearly in D/CM. It's the one position I wanted addressing in the Summer spending. Ironic. Pre-season, it was Geddy and Yates that seemed the more accomplished duo at D/CM. Neither are currently playing. Watson and Colback are Aitor's men. He'll probably stick by them. But fans on this forum can see it's not working.

Sometimes, it's how you use what you've got. Shame Aitor doesn't seem to rate Bridcutt (he did well against Newcastle and to be fair Aitor said he did...but then drops him v Brentford.)

Forest don't have legs in DCM with Watson and Colback. Nothing progressive or expansive about it. It was easily exploited by Brentford. Reading. Wigan. Birmingham.

Car' is looking like an expensive signing (who may come good but it was a big gamble for a 21 year old.) I'd rather have had an 'energy bunny' and imposing D/CM and a mobile, pacey striker for that. And brought in Tomlin for the ACM. Exactly the 3 kind of players that Forest were missing yesterday.

Sometimes managers create their own nooses.

Sick of the manager merry go round at Forest so don't want it to happen again so soon into the season.
We need to start racking up some wins though as our win % under him is woeful really.

It was interesting hearing paul Taylor before the game mentioning it's unfair bridcutt not starting, but happened to say his fitness is down. So with that being said, i kind of understand not played until Newcastle match fitness would make sense. Geddy will be back after the break, so chances of seeing brid seem even slimmer again.

Dean Smith, Paul Cook, Chris Wilder, British managers, know the lower leagues, positive, I think this type of profile is better than foreign managers who are distant from the players, don't know the league or the opposition etc.

Also think the key is to have a thorough recruitment policy, assess potential players loyalty, passion, fitness, skill, creating positive environment, crockability tests, team ethic, intelligence, gambling, hookers, alchohol, gaming addictions ... check it all out, educate, psychological strengthening and motivation

It's a real shame Dawson, Gued, Murphy aren't all 5 years younger they are obviously top professionals

Nobody wants a manager sacked because it means the team is failing. It only usually happens because it is thought a change will improve results. Forest have got through far too many over the last 25 years. Some like Doggie and Montanier had little chance before they started. That is not the case with AK. He has had unprecedented support. If results do not improve soon he will deserve the chop more than some of his predecessors .If it is not working we will need to move  on and try and find somebody who can. We are certainly overdue. Stability only counts for anything when things are working. Another next six performances like the first six and a similar points return we can forget promotion.

I'm not much of an AK fan but reading some of the names in this list has put me firmly in the 'AK-in' camp.

I don't think suggesting Billy Davies MK3 would be popular.

But it'd get us to the playoffs at least.

Billy Davies is history let's keep it that way.

Spot on post, I agree the likes of Cook, Smith and Wilder are the type of manager we should be looking at to get this team moving.

RE: Your Thoughts On The Next Nottingham Forest Manager - Alf - 02-09-2018

Wilder's great at Sheff U, but he's not the man for us. He's very much their version of Hart or Clark - a class above at that place because of his connections there.

But someone like that as you suggest PSS? Yup, if AK goes count me in.

It's going to be Nigel isn't it?
