RE: VAR - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 14-05-2026 Clear errors should be over turned within a matter of seconds. If a review drags on for a number of minutes then how can that possibly be a clear error? That's called nit picking. That is the issue for me. RE: VAR - ozzyten10 - 14-05-2026 It’s morphed because these are subjective calls. Once a pen for example has been given that is a 50/50 call it sets precedent and the PGML want to be seen as consistent and fair so all 50/50 are then scrutinised. Then we get to the stage we are at now where every goal and every challenge in the box is at the whim of the VAR. RE: VAR - Jimmygordon - 14-05-2026 I think if VAR can't decide within 30 seconds then on field decision. And off topic, but the same with corners and free kicks. Take a corner/free kick within 30 seconds of it being awarded. Remember the 6-second throw-in rule, for which a Forest player got a yellow card away at Palace? Seems to have been forgotten. RE: VAR - JollyLollyAussie - 14-05-2026 Make VAR time limited. RE: VAR - DeesideRed - 14-05-2026 (Yesterday, 09:56 PM)Salvatore Matrecano Wrote: VAR protects the Big6 here. In Scotland it protects Celtic. Absolutely, the last 2 game-weeks have been a shambles. Hearts denied 2 obvious pens and then Celtic get a penalty for a clear header which may have graced a finger. Indeed, akin to Rugby where its used well, "is there any conclusive reason why i cant give the try" (the goal etc) If you cant get an answer after 2 mins, its on field decision. VaR / the officials decide who wins trophies and get relegated. It’s that much of a difference. It won’t make Burnley win the league, but as we saw with West Ham’s goal, it will decide whether Arsenal or Man City win it. And as we also saw with the disallowed Leeds goal against Spurs when they decided to freeze offside at one frame rather than the other, it decides whether Spurs or West Ham go down. It’s not just that officials need to make close calls, it was ever thus. It’s that something has happened to the decision making, there’s clear biases going on, and VaR was meant to fix that and it just isn’t. RE: VAR - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 14-05-2026 I am in favour of foreign refs and VAR officials in the PL. They have them in Greece for big games and it works. |
