Got a punchers chance. Suspect Yates and (if fit) Niakhate may start. Similar plan as Arsenal away I'd suggest. Going toe to toe with them at Old Trafford might not be a smart move. 4 games no goals last season, so I suppose they (and Fulham) are our new bogey sides.

Turner
Serge  Joe  Boly    Niakhate  Aina

          Yates      Mangala  Danilo
                          MGW
                          Taiwo

Be tempted to start Kouyate instead of Mangala or Danilo.

1-0 up at 60 mins with statutory Taiwo strike then unleash Jonno, Elanga and Wood maybe. ?

I don't like Aurier on the back line, particularly if it's Worrall beside him.  Aurier showed last game where he should be.  Upfield in the midfield.  He has flashes of offensive talent, and his defensive lapses aren't as costly/dangerous.

Neco Williams is our better choice to avoid Worrall from being exposed on the right side.

Aurier can come on for Yates after Yates gets his inevitable yellow card.

No Johnson in your lineup?  Why?   Tottenham just showed us that the MU defense is not impregnable.

In that lineup, Taiwo is going have a long lonely game.

I've put Aurier exactly where he played in last game, right Wing back - the position where he provided 2 assists from.

You are seriously suggesting that a career Right Back should come on during a game at Old Trafford in Central Midfield? One question? Are you mad or just fishing for people to take the pi$$? I suppose Psycho put David James up top once but really?

On a more sensible note, Jonno is a class act whome I pray stays with us, but he's still finding his match fitness from injury in summer  plus I suspect he has an awful lot of external noise going on at present. He may be as glad as anyone when transfer window shuts.

Taiwo is used to it and if our midfield raise their game and stop spunking possession cheaply-especially those paid to create- then it won't matter. Until then we definitely need numbers in midfield.

Scrub that he might make the bench if he is lucky.

Feels like a match for Yates and Kouyate to me.

Get right into Fernandes, Casemiro and Antony.

Uniteds weakness is they have been overran in midfield, teams running straight through them, those two play straight into uniteds hands as a pair. Legs and mobility in centre mid gives us the best chance today.

Be brave in the team selection and get your rewards today.

Agree, mobility and ability to hold and pass through midfield key

Thats why i'd play 4 at back to get another midfielder on.
However, cooper might start with a 5 to frustrate them then go to 4 in later stages when they tire.

Be interesting to see if Johnson is in the squad today

RE: Manchester United - Nottingham Forest - Salvatore Matrecano - 26-08-2023

Im certain Johnson will be in today’s squad.

Much less certain he will be in the squad away to Chelsea a week today.

We’ll see.

My view is that it will need more than just technical ability to get a result from this match.
