Marinakis will be in awe of Gerrard with him being a big Liverpool fan. I'm just hoping his statement about not signing so called galacticos for Oly anymore comes in to play here too. But I'd have a decent wager SG will be in charge next season.

Gerrard strikes me as the type to just want to manage a prem team.. least with Ralph you get a manage who builds up from the youth

Worrall would be happy he loved playing for Stevie G at Rangers.

Gerrard is completely out of depth tactically in the Prem. Look how good his Villa squad can be with a tactically astute manager in charge. I’m not even convinced Gerrard could get us promoted from the Champ. Maybe I’m being overly negative, but Cooper is far more talented as a manager. Perhaps Stevie is a good motivator of individuals?

"I loved my time up there, it's an unbelievable football club.
"The size of it, Steven Gerrard being the manager was a massive pull.

This the Joe Worrall that was an utter disgrace and should never play for the club again after the Tottenham game?
By the way if this is your way of convincing people that Gerrard is a good idea as manager I reckon you are on a hiding to nothing.

Decent and very balanced write up about Ross Wilson in the Athletic today.
Also speaks highly of Giraldi who had a very good relationship with Cooper and the team and fought his corner.
Confirms Cooper was the one who wanted Wood and Ayew. Think some have unfairly tried to lay the blame elsewhere on January. Still think the idea was absolutely fine, it was the deal we negotiated that was very poor.

Then in my opinion an of course with a dollop of hindsight the answer should have been “ Sorry Steve this is going to cost us £19m and a further £6m in wages with little resale value at the end. There are other forwards around for this amount of money”.
Much as I like Cooper and applaud backing the manager it has to be sensible and the financial wellbeing of the club comes first.
